DACNUcontrol (Dacnusa sibirica) – Natural Leaf Miner Control for Protected Crops

Leaf miners can catch you off guard – leaving pale trails in the foliage, weakening young plants, and causing cosmetic damage that’s hard to reverse. DACNUcontrol gives growers a clean, reliable way to fight back, without reaching for the spray lance.

What’s inside the bottle? A tiny but tough little wasp called Dacnusa sibirica. It’s nature’s answer to leaf miner infestations. Instead of chasing pests with chemicals, Dacnusa quietly patrols the crop, finding leaf miner larvae and laying its eggs right inside them. The larvae don’t make it much further after that.

As soon as they’re released, these wasps get straight to work – settling into the crop and blending into the canopy like they’ve always belonged there. They’re especially handy in greenhouses, propagation tunnels, or anywhere sprays don’t quite cut it. The trick is timing: you’ll get the best results by introducing them early, before the miners get deep into the leaf or start to pupate.

They work well on their own, but many growers team them with Diglyphus isaea or sticky traps for broader, more sustained control.

Best used for:

• Ornamental or edible crops where leaf miner damage needs fast response
• Protected systems where foliage appearance or vigour is critical
• Growers aiming to reduce insecticide use in tight or sensitive crops
• Sites using preventative or early-stage IPM programmes

How to apply:

Use at roughly 0.25 - 0.5 wasps per square metre. Apply preventatively or at the very first sign of leaf miner activity. Avoid spraying broad-spectrum insecticides before or just after release, and use sticky traps to monitor how well they’re establishing.
