Unit price perPortable Bluelab meter for measuring pH, EC and temperature, complete with the reinforced Leap pH Probe for direct root-zone and nutrient solution testing.
The Bluelab Combo Meter with Leap pH Probe gives growers a practical way to monitor three of the most important growing parameters from one portable meter. Measure pH directly in soil and growing media with the reinforced Leap probe, while the separate conductivity and temperature probe measures nutrient strength and solution temperature.
Unlike a conventional glass pH probe intended primarily for liquids, the Bluelab Leap pH Probe features a reinforced spear tip designed for direct root-zone measurements. It can be used in soil, coco coir, stone wool, potting mixes and other substrates, as well as nutrient solutions.
The meter also measures conductivity in EC, CF, ppm 500 or ppm 700 and temperature in °C or °F. Automatic temperature compensation and a clear backlit display make it a versatile option for routine crop monitoring across hydroponic, substrate and soil-based growing systems.
Why choose the Bluelab Combo Meter with Leap pH Probe?
What can the Bluelab Combo Meter with Leap Probe measure?
The Combo Meter measures pH, conductivity and temperature. The Leap pH Probe is designed for pH measurements directly in the root zone and can also be submerged in nutrient solution.
Conductivity and temperature are measured using the separate conductivity/temperature probe. This makes it possible to monitor nutrient solution strength and temperature alongside root-zone or solution pH using the same handheld meter.
Which growing media can the Leap pH Probe be used in?
The reinforced Bluelab Leap pH Probe is suitable for direct pH measurements in soil, coco coir blends, stone wool, potting mixes and other suitable substrates. It can also be used for pH testing in nutrient solutions.
This makes the Combo Meter with Leap pH Probe particularly useful for growers who want to investigate conditions around the root zone rather than relying solely on reservoir or runoff measurements.
How to use the Bluelab Combo Meter with Leap pH Probe
Before first use, connect the Leap pH Probe to the meter using its BNC connection. Precondition the probe by inserting the tip several times into substrate and then rinsing it before completing the required pH calibration.
For direct substrate measurements, the growing media should contain sufficient moisture for a reliable reading. Create an insertion hole with the supplied dibber where required, then carefully insert the Leap probe so the sensing area makes good contact with the root-zone media. Switch the meter on and allow the pH reading to stabilise.
To measure nutrient solution conductivity and temperature, place the conductivity/temperature probe into the solution and allow the displayed measurement to stabilise. Conductivity can be displayed as EC, CF, ppm 500 or ppm 700.
Rinse the probes with fresh tap water after use. Keep the Leap pH Probe stored in its cap with sufficient Bluelab KCl Storage Solution to keep the sensor hydrated.

Unit price perThe Garden King Digital Hygrometer Without Probe is a simple and effective temperature and humidity monitor for grow rooms, grow tents, propagation areas, greenhouses and other controlled growing environments.
Temperature and relative humidity are two of the most important environmental measurements for indoor growers. This compact digital thermo-hygrometer displays both, giving you an immediate overview of conditions around your plants without requiring separate instruments.
In addition to current readings, the Garden King Hygrometer records minimum and maximum temperature and humidity. This is particularly useful in grow rooms because conditions can change significantly while the grower is away, during the dark period or as ventilation and heating equipment cycles.
This version is the without-probe model, so measurements are taken at the position of the main unit. This makes it a straightforward choice for monitoring general room or grow-tent conditions.
Why choose the Garden King Digital Hygrometer?
Monitor temperature & humidity together
Temperature and humidity are closely linked. As temperature changes, relative humidity can also change significantly, which is why monitoring both measurements together gives a much better picture of the growing environment than using a thermometer alone.
High temperatures can increase plant water demand, while excessively high humidity can reduce transpiration and encourage condensation. Very dry air can increase moisture loss from plants, particularly during propagation and early establishment.
A digital thermo-hygrometer gives growers the information needed to make informed adjustments to extraction, circulation, heating, humidification or dehumidification equipment.
Why min/max memory matters
A single current reading only tells you what the environment is doing at that particular moment. The minimum and maximum memory function provides additional information about what happened between checks.
For example, a grow room may appear perfectly comfortable when checked during the day but become considerably cooler and more humid after the lights switch off. Alternatively, temperatures may peak during the warmest part of the lighting period while nobody is present.
Reviewing the recorded minimum and maximum values makes these fluctuations much easier to identify.
Where should I position a grow room hygrometer?
For general crop monitoring, position the Garden King Hygrometer in a representative part of the growing environment, ideally around plant canopy height.
Avoid placing the unit directly in front of an intake fan, immediately beside a humidifier or dehumidifier, directly beneath intense lighting or against a particularly hot or cold surface. These locations can produce readings that do not accurately represent conditions experienced by the majority of the crop.
In larger rooms, environmental conditions may vary considerably from one area to another. Using more than one hygrometer can help identify warmer, cooler, wetter or drier zones.
With probe or without probe?
Garden King offers versions of its digital min/max thermo-hygrometer with and without an external probe. This product is the without-probe version.
| Without Probe | Simple all-in-one monitoring of temperature and humidity at the location of the main display unit. |
|---|---|
| With Probe | Adds an external temperature probe, useful where temperature needs to be measured at a separate position from the main display. |
If you simply need to monitor general grow-room or grow-tent temperature and humidity, the probe-free model provides a straightforward and economical solution.
Ideal for grow rooms & grow tents
Environmental monitoring is one of the simplest ways to improve consistency in an indoor growing setup. Without temperature and humidity measurements, ventilation and climate adjustments are largely guesswork.
The Garden King Hygrometer provides an inexpensive way to monitor both values continuously. Checking the display and reviewing minimum and maximum readings regularly can help identify environmental problems before they become persistent.
It can be used alongside extraction fans, circulation fans, heaters, humidifiers and dehumidifiers to help assess whether environmental equipment is achieving the intended conditions.
Useful from propagation through to mature plants
Temperature and humidity remain important throughout the growing cycle, although the preferred environment can change as plants develop.
Young plants and cuttings generally require closer attention to moisture loss, while mature crops can produce considerable amounts of water vapour through transpiration. Monitoring relative humidity becomes particularly useful as plant density and canopy size increase.
Because the Garden King unit displays both temperature and humidity, the same monitor can remain useful throughout different stages of plant development.

Garden King Digital Hygrometer FAQs
What does the Garden King Hygrometer measure?
It monitors both temperature and relative humidity, allowing the two main grow-room climate measurements to be checked from a single digital display. Does this Garden King Hygrometer have a probe?
No. This is the without-probe version, so environmental measurements are taken at the position of the main unit. Does it record minimum and maximum readings?
Yes. The unit records minimum and maximum values, making it easier to identify environmental changes that occur between checks. Why do I need a hygrometer in a grow room?
A hygrometer allows you to monitor relative humidity rather than estimating it. This helps when adjusting ventilation, heating, humidification and dehumidification equipment. Where should I put the hygrometer in a grow tent?
For general crop monitoring, position it around canopy height in a location that represents the wider growing environment rather than directly beside environmental equipment. Should I put the hygrometer next to my intake fan?
Usually not. Air directly entering the grow space may be warmer, cooler, wetter or drier than the general room environment and can therefore distort the reading. Why are minimum and maximum temperature readings useful?
They can reveal temperature peaks and overnight lows that may occur while the grow room is unattended. Why are minimum and maximum humidity readings useful?
They help identify periods of unexpectedly high or low relative humidity, including changes that occur when lighting, extraction or heating cycles change. Can I use this hygrometer in a greenhouse?
It can be used to monitor suitable indoor and protected growing environments, provided the unit is kept within the conditions specified for the product and protected from direct water exposure. Can I use more than one hygrometer in a grow room?
Yes. Multiple monitors can be useful in larger environments because temperature and humidity may differ between different parts of the room. Does a hygrometer control humidity?
No. A hygrometer measures humidity. Equipment such as extraction fans, humidifiers and dehumidifiers is used to change the environment. What is the difference between a thermometer and a hygrometer?
A thermometer measures temperature, while a hygrometer measures relative humidity. This Garden King unit combines both measurements in one display. Is this suitable for propagation?
Yes. Monitoring temperature and humidity is particularly useful during propagation and early plant establishment, when environmental conditions can have a significant effect on moisture loss. How many Garden King Hygrometers are in an outer case?
An outer case contains 25 units.

Unit price perThe Garden King Digital Hygrometer with Probe is a practical temperature and humidity monitor for grow rooms, grow tents, propagation areas, greenhouses and other controlled growing environments, with an external temperature probe for monitoring a second location.
Temperature and relative humidity are two of the most important environmental measurements for indoor growers. This digital thermo-hygrometer provides an easy-to-read display of current conditions while also recording minimum and maximum readings, helping growers understand how their environment changes between checks.
Unlike the standard Garden King Hygrometer, this model includes a wired external temperature probe. This allows the main display to remain in one position while temperature is measured at another, making it particularly useful for comparing different parts of a grow room or monitoring an area that is difficult to view directly.
The combination of temperature, relative humidity and min/max memory makes this a simple but valuable tool for checking the performance of extraction fans, heaters, humidifiers, dehumidifiers and other environmental-control equipment.
Why choose the Garden King Hygrometer with Probe?
What does the external probe do?
The external probe provides an additional temperature measurement away from the main hygrometer. This makes the probe version particularly useful where temperature needs to be checked at a specific location while the display remains somewhere convenient and easy to read.
For example, the main unit can be positioned where it measures general room conditions while the probe is placed at canopy level, in a propagation area or another location where temperature is particularly important.
It is important to note that the external probe is used for temperature measurement. Relative humidity is measured by the main hygrometer unit.
Monitor temperature & humidity together
Temperature and relative humidity interact continuously within a growing environment. As temperature changes, relative humidity can change even when the actual amount of moisture in the air remains similar.
Monitoring both measurements therefore gives growers a much clearer picture of environmental conditions than temperature monitoring alone.
This information can be used when adjusting extraction, circulation, heating, humidification and dehumidification equipment, helping maintain a more consistent environment around the crop.
Min/max memory reveals what happens when you are away
A current temperature or humidity reading only shows conditions at the exact moment you check the display. The minimum and maximum memory function provides additional information about environmental extremes that occurred since the readings were last reset.
This is especially valuable in grow rooms because environmental conditions can change substantially between the light and dark periods.
Temperatures may climb during peak lighting periods, while humidity can increase as the room cools after lights-out. Reviewing the recorded minimum and maximum readings makes these changes much easier to identify.
Where should I position the hygrometer?
Position the main Garden King Hygrometer where it can measure representative conditions within the growing environment. For crop monitoring, a position around plant canopy height is generally useful.
Avoid placing the main unit directly in front of an intake, immediately beside a humidifier or dehumidifier, directly beneath intense lighting or against a hot or cold surface. These positions can produce readings that do not accurately represent the wider growing environment.
The external probe can then be positioned at a second point where additional temperature information is useful.
Useful applications for the external temperature probe
The addition of a remote probe makes this model more flexible than a basic all-in-one thermo-hygrometer.
Garden King Hygrometer with probe or without probe?
| With Probe | Includes an external temperature probe, allowing temperature to be monitored at a second position away from the main display. |
|---|---|
| Without Probe | Simple all-in-one monitoring of temperature and relative humidity at the location of the main unit. |
For straightforward room monitoring, either version can provide the essential temperature and humidity information growers need. Choose the probe version when the additional remote temperature measurement would be useful.
Ideal for grow rooms & grow tents
Environmental monitoring removes much of the guesswork from indoor growing. Without reliable temperature and humidity measurements, it can be difficult to know whether extraction, heating or humidity-control equipment is actually maintaining the intended conditions.
The Garden King Hygrometer provides immediate information from the digital display, while the min/max memory helps identify environmental changes that occurred when the grow room was unattended.
The external temperature probe adds another useful data point, allowing growers to compare temperatures at different positions and identify potential environmental inconsistencies.
Useful from propagation to flowering
Temperature and humidity remain important throughout the growing cycle, although the preferred conditions and environmental challenges change as plants develop.
Young plants and cuttings can be particularly sensitive to moisture loss, while larger established crops can release considerable quantities of water vapour through transpiration.
Monitoring environmental conditions throughout the crop cycle allows ventilation, heating and humidity-control equipment to be adjusted as plant size and environmental demand change.

Unit price perThe Garden King Ozone Generator is a compact plug-in unit designed for air and odour treatment in small to medium-sized unoccupied spaces. Its simple plug-in design provides a low-maintenance option for treating persistent airborne odours without fragrance gels, aerosol sprays or replaceable carbon filters.
Ozone, or O3, is a highly reactive form of oxygen. Ozone generators use this reactivity to oxidise odour-causing compounds in the surrounding environment, which is why ozone technology is used for specialist odour treatment.
The Garden King unit is compact, almost silent in operation and straightforward to use. It plugs directly into a suitable mains socket, making it convenient where a permanently installed odour-control system is unnecessary.
Why choose the Garden King Ozone Generator?
How does an ozone generator work?
Normal atmospheric oxygen is predominantly O2. An ozone generator converts a proportion of this oxygen into ozone, O3.
Ozone is highly reactive and readily participates in oxidation reactions. When it encounters certain odour-causing compounds, it can chemically alter them, which can reduce or remove the associated smell.
This is fundamentally different from a conventional air freshener. A fragrance product primarily introduces another scent into the environment, while ozone treatment relies on oxidation.
Ozone safety - please read before use
Ozone is not ordinary oxygen and should not be deliberately inhaled. Exposure to elevated ozone concentrations can irritate and damage the respiratory system.
Where can the Garden King Ozone Generator be used?
The unit is intended for odour treatment in appropriate unoccupied spaces. Its compact size makes it particularly useful where a large commercial ozone generator would be unnecessary.
Potential applications include suitable storage areas, utility spaces, garages, workshops and other enclosed environments requiring periodic odour treatment.
Because ozone can be harmful to people and animals, the suitability of the application should always be assessed before use. The manufacturer's operating instructions and all applicable safety precautions take priority.
Odour treatment without masking fragrances
One of the main differences between ozone treatment and conventional air freshening is that ozone does not depend on adding a fragrance to cover an unwanted smell.
Ozone reacts with certain airborne compounds through oxidation. This can make it useful where the objective is treatment of the source compounds responsible for an odour rather than simply introducing a stronger fragrance.
Ozone is not appropriate for every situation, however. For continuously occupied environments, other methods of ventilation, filtration and odour control should be selected instead.
Using ozone around horticultural environments
Ozone generators have historically been used in horticultural applications for odour management, but careful positioning and operation are essential.
Ozone should not be treated as a substitute for correctly designed grow-room ventilation and filtration. Where strong odours are continuously exhausted from an indoor growing area, appropriate extraction and carbon filtration are generally the primary methods of control.
Excessive ozone can also damage plant tissue. Avoid exposing living plants to elevated ozone concentrations and always use the unit in accordance with its supplied instructions.
Ozone generator, carbon filter or odour neutraliser?
| Ozone Generator | Uses reactive ozone for specialist odour treatment. Requires strict safety precautions and should not be used around people or animals at unsafe concentrations. |
|---|---|
| Carbon Filtration | Captures many odorous compounds from an airflow and is commonly used with mechanical extraction systems. |
| Odour Neutraliser | Available in passive or spray formats for convenient supplementary background or on-demand odour management. |

Garden King Ozone Generator FAQs
What does an ozone generator do?
An ozone generator produces ozone, or O3, which is highly reactive and can oxidise certain compounds responsible for unwanted odours. Does ozone simply cover smells?
No. Unlike a fragranced air freshener, ozone treatment relies on oxidation rather than masking an unwanted smell with another fragrance. Is ozone safe to breathe?
No. Elevated concentrations of ozone are harmful to the respiratory system. People and pets should not be exposed to unsafe ozone concentrations. Can I stay in the room while the ozone generator is operating?
The unit should not be used in a way that exposes occupants to elevated ozone concentrations. Follow the manufacturer's safety instructions and keep people and pets away from the treatment area as required. Should I ventilate a room after ozone treatment?
Yes. Allow the ozone to dissipate and ventilate the treated area thoroughly before people or animals re-enter. Is the Garden King Ozone Generator noisy?
The Garden King unit is designed for almost silent operation. Does the Garden King Ozone Generator require chemicals?
It generates ozone electrically from oxygen in the surrounding air rather than requiring bottled treatment chemicals or fragrances. Is this suitable for large commercial buildings?
This compact Garden King unit is intended for appropriate small to medium-sized areas rather than large-scale commercial ozone treatment. Can ozone replace a carbon filter in a grow room?
Ozone should not be considered a direct replacement for a correctly designed ventilation and carbon-filtration system. The technologies work differently and have different safety considerations. Can ozone damage plants?
Yes. Excessive ozone exposure can damage plant tissue, so living plants should not be exposed to elevated ozone concentrations. Can I use the Garden King Ozone Generator around pets?
Do not expose pets or other animals to elevated ozone concentrations. Animals should be kept away from an area undergoing ozone treatment. Does an ozone generator need replacement filters?
Ozone treatment does not rely on a conventional replaceable carbon filter. Follow the manufacturer's maintenance instructions for the unit itself. What is the smell associated with ozone?
Ozone has a distinctive sharp smell that can sometimes be detected at relatively low concentrations. Smell should never be relied upon as a safety measurement. How many Garden King Ozone Generators are in an outer case?
An outer case contains 80 units.

Unit price perThe Garden King Fan Speed Controller is a simple plug-in variable speed controller for compatible AC extraction and intake fans, giving growers manual control over ventilation without complicated wiring or installation.
Designed for indoor growing and ventilation applications, the controller sits directly between a suitable mains socket and fan. Simply plug the controller into the socket, connect the fan and use the rotary dial to adjust airflow to the required level.
With a maximum specified fan load of 1.3A / 300W, the Garden King controller is suitable for a range of compatible AC inline fans. Reducing fan speed can be particularly useful when full extraction is unnecessary, allowing airflow and ventilation noise to be adjusted to suit the environment.
This is a straightforward manual fan controller. It does not use a temperature or humidity sensor and does not automatically change fan speed, making it ideal where simple, inexpensive manual airflow adjustment is required.
Why choose the Garden King Fan Speed Controller?
Simple plug-in fan speed control
The Garden King controller is designed to make manual ventilation adjustment as straightforward as possible.
Connect the controller to a suitable mains socket, plug a compatible fan into the controller and use the rotary dial to increase or decrease fan output.
There is no separate thermostat, temperature probe or control cable to install. This makes it particularly useful for straightforward ventilation systems where automatic environmental control is unnecessary.
Fine-tune grow room airflow
An extraction fan running permanently at full output can sometimes move considerably more air than a growing environment requires. This may increase noise, remove heat too quickly or make it more difficult to maintain the desired environmental conditions.
Adding manual speed control allows the grower to reduce fan output until the required balance between extraction, temperature and air exchange is achieved.
The controller can also be used with a compatible intake fan where manual control of incoming airflow is required.
Fan compatibility & maximum load
The Garden King Fan Speed Controller is specified for compatible fans with a maximum load of 1.3A / 300W. Always check the electrical specifications of the fan before connecting it.
It is commonly used with compatible AC inline ventilation fans, including suitable RVK-type fans. However, not every fan motor is designed to operate correctly with this type of manual speed controller.
The controller is also not recommended for some very small or low-powered AC fans where only a small part of the controller's adjustment range may be usable. If fan compatibility is uncertain, check the fan manufacturer's speed-control requirements before use.
Will this fan controller make an AC fan hum?
Some AC fan motors can produce an audible hum or buzz when their speed is reduced using a basic electronic fan controller. This is a characteristic of the interaction between certain motor designs and this type of speed control rather than necessarily a fault with the controller.
Lowering fan speed can still reduce the sound generated by moving air, but this controller should not be described as a silent fan controller.
Where eliminating motor hum is particularly important, a compatible transformer, variac or frequency-based controller may be a more appropriate option.
Manual control without unnecessary complexity
Not every ventilation system requires an automatic climate controller. For smaller grow tents and straightforward extraction systems, a manual controller can provide all the adjustment required at a considerably lower cost.
Once the required fan speed has been established, the dial can simply be left at that setting. Adjustments can then be made manually as environmental conditions or ventilation requirements change.
How to use the Garden King Fan Speed Controller
Manual fan controller or automatic climate controller?
| Garden King Fan Speed Controller | Simple manual rotary control for setting the speed of one compatible AC fan. |
|---|---|
| Temperature Fan Controller | Uses a temperature sensor to automatically change ventilation according to environmental conditions. |
| Frequency / Transformer Controller | More sophisticated fan-control technology, often selected where smoother AC motor operation and reduced motor hum are priorities. |
| EC Fan Controller | Designed specifically to control compatible electronically commutated fans through their dedicated control interface. |

What does the Garden King Fan Speed Controller do?
It provides manual variable-speed control for a compatible AC ventilation fan, allowing airflow to be increased or reduced using the rotary dial. What is the maximum load of the Garden King Fan Speed Controller?
The controller is specified for a maximum fan load of 1.3A or 300W. Always check the connected fan's electrical specifications before use. Does the Garden King Fan Controller need wiring?
No. It is a plug-in controller designed to connect directly between a suitable UK mains socket and compatible fan. Can I use it with an extraction fan?
Yes, provided the extraction fan is compatible with this type of speed control and remains within the controller's 1.3A / 300W maximum load. Can it control an intake fan?
Yes. It can be used with a compatible intake or extraction fan within its electrical rating. Can I use this controller with an RVK fan?
It is suitable for a range of compatible RVK-type fans, but fan size alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the fan's electrical load and speed-control requirements before connection. Is it suitable for a 4-inch RVK fan?
This controller is not recommended for some small or low-powered RVK-type fans because only a limited portion of the adjustment range may be usable. Check the exact fan model before purchasing. Will this fan speed controller make my fan hum?
Some AC motors can produce an audible hum when their speed is reduced using this type of electronic controller. If silent motor operation is essential, consider a compatible transformer, variac or frequency-based controller. Does it automatically control temperature?
No. This is a manual speed controller and does not include a thermostat or temperature probe. Can reducing fan speed reduce noise?
Reducing airflow can lower the noise produced by moving air and ducting, although some compatible AC motors may produce electrical hum when electronically speed controlled. Can reducing fan speed save electricity?
A compatible fan operating at reduced output may consume less power than when running continuously at full output, although the exact reduction depends on the fan and control method. Can I use this with an EC fan?
EC fans normally use a dedicated low-voltage or digital speed-control interface. Use the controller specified by the EC fan manufacturer rather than assuming a mains-side AC controller is suitable. Is this suitable for grow tents?
Yes. It provides a simple way to manually adjust compatible ventilation fans in grow tents, grow rooms and other indoor growing environments. How many Garden King Fan Speed Controllers are in an outer case?
An outer case contains 48 units.

Unit price perThe Control Freak 7A Frequency Controller is an advanced digital AC fan speed and temperature controller designed to provide exceptionally smooth, quiet and efficient ventilation control in grow rooms, grow tents and other temperature-controlled environments.
Rather than using a basic controller that reduces fan speed by crudely altering the incoming AC waveform, the Control Freak uses dynamic frequency control. By changing the frequency supplied to compatible AC fans, it can regulate their speed smoothly while avoiding the characteristic humming and buzzing associated with many conventional electronic fan controllers.
The 7A model features two power outlets, allowing intake and extraction fans, or other suitable fan combinations, to be managed from a single controller while remaining within the unit's electrical load limits.
Automatic temperature control, configurable minimum and maximum fan speeds, adjustable bandwidth, a remote temperature sensor and manual fan-speed control make the Control Freak suitable for growers who want much finer control over their ventilation system than a basic plug-in speed controller can provide.
Why choose the Control Freak 7A Frequency Controller?
What makes frequency control different?
Standard UK mains electricity operates at approximately 50Hz. Many basic AC fan controllers attempt to slow a fan by modifying or chopping the electrical waveform supplied to the motor.
Although this can reduce fan speed, certain AC fan motors can respond with an audible hum or buzz. Poorly matched control methods can also result in inefficient and less refined operation.
The Control Freak takes a different approach. Its dynamic frequency technology alters the frequency supplied to the compatible AC fan, allowing the motor speed to be changed smoothly.
The result is much finer fan-speed control with substantially reduced motor buzz, making it particularly attractive in grow rooms where both environmental stability and noise are important.
Automatic temperature-controlled fan speed
In automatic mode, the Control Freak uses its remote temperature sensor to monitor the grow-room environment. The grower sets the desired temperature and operating parameters, and the controller adjusts fan speed in response to changing conditions.
As heat builds, ventilation can increase. As the room moves back towards the selected temperature, fan speed can reduce rather than simply switching the ventilation system fully on and off.
This variable-speed approach helps maintain a more stable environment while reducing unnecessary fan noise and power consumption during periods when maximum extraction is not required.
Minimum speed, maximum speed & bandwidth control
The Control Freak gives the grower control over more than just a target temperature. Minimum and maximum fan speeds can be configured to determine the range within which the controller operates.
A minimum speed can be used to maintain continuous background ventilation rather than allowing compatible fans to stop completely, while the maximum setting can limit the highest fan speed where full output is unnecessary.
The adjustable bandwidth, sometimes referred to as hysteresis, determines the temperature range over which the controller changes fan speed. A tighter bandwidth provides more responsive temperature control, while a wider setting allows fan speed to change more gradually.
Manual fan speed control
Automatic operation is not compulsory. The Control Freak also provides a manual mode for applications where the grower wants to select and maintain a fixed fan speed.
Fan output can be adjusted from approximately 10-100%, with 90 available speed settings providing considerably finer adjustment than conventional multi-position fan controllers.
Manual mode is particularly useful when commissioning a ventilation system, balancing airflow or where a consistent fixed extraction rate is preferred.
Control intake & extraction fans
The 7A Control Freak incorporates two sprung-covered power sockets. This allows two suitable AC fan loads to be connected to the controller, subject to the electrical rating of the unit and connected equipment.
A common configuration is to use one outlet for extraction and the other for intake, allowing both parts of the ventilation system to respond together.
Always check the electrical rating and compatibility of the fans before connection. The total connected load must remain within the controller's specified limits.
Reduce fan noise & unnecessary energy use
Grow-room extraction fans rarely need to operate at maximum speed every minute of the day. Automatically reducing fan speed when environmental demand is lower can substantially reduce noise and unnecessary electricity consumption.
Frequency-based control also avoids the prominent motor buzz that can occur when certain AC fans are paired with basic electronic speed controllers.
This combination of automatic temperature management, variable speed and smooth motor operation makes the Control Freak particularly useful for indoor growing environments where ventilation runs for long periods.
Setting up the Control Freak 7A
Connect compatible AC ventilation fans to the controller's outlets and position the remote temperature sensor in a representative part of the growing environment.
Avoid placing the temperature sensor directly in front of an intake, immediately beneath a grow light or against a surface that does not accurately represent general room temperature.
Select either automatic temperature control or manual operation. In automatic mode, configure the desired temperature, minimum and maximum fan speeds and bandwidth to suit the room.
After setup, monitor the environment and fine-tune the settings until the ventilation system maintains the required balance between temperature, airflow and noise.

What does the Control Freak 7A Frequency Controller do?
It controls the speed of compatible AC ventilation fans and can automatically vary their output according to grow-room temperature or operate at a manually selected fixed speed. Why is it called a frequency controller?
Rather than relying on basic waveform clipping to reduce fan speed, the Control Freak changes the electrical frequency supplied to compatible AC fans, allowing smoother motor-speed control. Does the Control Freak stop AC fans buzzing?
The frequency-control system is specifically designed to provide smooth AC fan operation without the motor buzzing commonly associated with some conventional electronic speed controllers. Can the Control Freak 7A control two fans?
Yes. The controller has two power outlets and can operate suitable intake and extraction fans, or another compatible fan combination, provided the connected electrical load remains within the unit's rating. Can it automatically control grow-room temperature?

Unit price per£169.55
Unit price perThe Control Freak 3A Frequency Controller is an advanced digital AC fan speed and temperature controller designed to provide exceptionally smooth, quiet and efficient ventilation control in grow rooms, grow tents and other temperature-controlled environments.
Unlike basic AC fan controllers that reduce speed by crudely altering the incoming electrical waveform, the Control Freak uses dynamic frequency control. By altering the frequency supplied to compatible AC fans, it can regulate fan speed smoothly while avoiding the characteristic humming and buzzing associated with many conventional electronic fan controllers.
The 3A model is suited to smaller and medium-sized ventilation systems where the connected fan load falls within its electrical capacity. It features two sprung-covered power outlets, allowing suitable intake and extraction fans to be controlled together from a single unit.
Automatic temperature control, configurable minimum and maximum fan speeds, adjustable bandwidth, a remote temperature sensor and manual fan-speed operation give growers considerably more control over their ventilation system than a conventional plug-in speed controller.
Why choose the Control Freak 3A Frequency Controller?
What is frequency-based fan control?
Standard UK mains electricity operates at approximately 50Hz. Many inexpensive AC fan controllers reduce motor speed by modifying or chopping the electrical waveform rather than changing its frequency.
While this can reduce speed, some AC fan motors respond with a noticeable electrical hum or buzz. It can also result in less refined motor operation.
The Control Freak uses a different approach. Its dynamic frequency technology alters the frequency supplied to a compatible AC fan, allowing motor speed to be controlled much more smoothly.
The result is smooth, linear fan-speed adjustment without the intrusive buzzing associated with many conventional AC fan controllers.
Automatic grow-room temperature control
In automatic mode, the Control Freak uses its remote thermostat to monitor the temperature inside the growing environment. The controller then varies fan speed according to the grower's selected temperature and ventilation settings.
As room temperature rises, extraction can increase automatically. When conditions move back towards the selected temperature, fan speed can reduce rather than the ventilation system simply switching fully on and off.
This variable-speed approach can help maintain a more stable environment while reducing unnecessary noise and power consumption during periods when maximum airflow is not required.
Adjustable minimum & maximum fan speeds
The Control Freak allows minimum and maximum fan speeds to be configured, giving the grower control over the operating range available to the automatic temperature-control system.
A minimum fan speed can maintain continuous background air exchange even when the room is cool, while the maximum setting can prevent the ventilation system operating faster than necessary.
These settings are particularly useful when balancing extraction and intake, maintaining negative pressure or reducing unnecessary ventilation noise.
Adjustable temperature bandwidth
The controller's adjustable bandwidth determines the temperature range over which fan speed changes.
A tighter setting provides a more responsive reaction to changing temperature, while a wider bandwidth allows the controller to alter fan speed more gradually.
This gives growers the flexibility to tune the ventilation response to the behaviour of their individual room rather than relying on a fixed factory control strategy.
Manual fan speed control
Automatic temperature regulation is not compulsory. Manual mode allows the Control Freak to operate as a highly adjustable fixed-speed fan controller.
Fan output can be adjusted from approximately 10-100%, with 90 available speed settings providing precise adjustment.
Manual mode is useful when commissioning a ventilation system, balancing airflow, testing equipment or where a consistent extraction rate is preferred.
Two fan outlets for flexible ventilation control
The Control Freak 3A features two sprung-covered power sockets, allowing two suitable AC fan loads to be connected to one controller.
This makes it possible to run compatible intake and extraction fans together, provided the combined electrical load remains within the controller's specified 3A capacity.
Always check the electrical rating and speed-control compatibility of the connected fans before use. The combined load of all connected equipment must remain within the controller's specified limits.
Quieter & more efficient ventilation
An extraction fan does not necessarily need to operate at maximum output continuously. During cooler periods, reducing airflow can lower both fan noise and electricity consumption while still maintaining the required background ventilation.
Automatic control allows the system to increase airflow when additional cooling is required and reduce it again as conditions stabilise.
Combined with frequency-based motor control, this provides a considerably more refined approach than running fans permanently at full speed or controlling them with a simple fixed-speed device.
Setting up the Control Freak 3A
Connect compatible AC ventilation fans to the controller's power outlets and position the remote temperature sensor in a representative part of the growing environment.
Avoid placing the sensor directly in front of an air inlet, immediately beneath a grow light or against a warm or cold surface, as this may produce a reading that does not accurately represent general room conditions.
Select automatic or manual operation. For automatic temperature control, configure the desired room temperature together with the minimum fan speed, maximum fan speed and temperature bandwidth.
Monitor the environment after installation and fine-tune the settings to achieve the required balance between temperature, airflow, negative pressure and noise.
Control Freak 3A or 7A?
Both versions use the same frequency-control principle and are designed to provide smooth AC fan-speed and temperature control. The key difference is their electrical load capacity.
| Control Freak 3A | Designed for compatible ventilation systems with a total connected load within the 3A controller rating. |
|---|---|
| Control Freak 7A | Higher-capacity version for larger compatible fans or ventilation systems requiring greater electrical load capacity. |

Unit price perThe TrolMaster WD-1 Water Detector & Touch Spot is designed for use with the Aqua-X Irrigation Control System, providing both water leak detection and irrigation confirmation from a single sensor system.
The WD-1 can be configured in two different ways. In its standard leak detection mode, the Touch Spot is positioned where unwanted water is likely to collect, allowing the Aqua-X system to identify a leak and generate an alert.
Alternatively, the WD-1 can be assigned to an irrigation output and used as a watering verification sensor. When the associated pump or solenoid is activated, the system expects the WD-1 to detect water within the configured delay period. If water is not detected, Aqua-X can alert the user to a potential irrigation failure.
This provides an important additional layer of monitoring for automated irrigation. A controller may successfully switch an output on, but that alone cannot confirm that water actually reached the intended area. The WD-1 allows the system to verify the physical presence of water.
Why use the TrolMaster WD-1?
Watering confirmation for automated irrigation
Automated irrigation normally relies on the controller successfully switching pumps or solenoid valves. A switched output, however, does not necessarily mean that water has reached the crop. Pump failure, valve problems or other faults elsewhere in the irrigation system can prevent the expected watering event.
The WD-1 provides an additional physical confirmation point. It can be assigned to a controlled irrigation output and positioned where runoff accumulates or where water is expected to arrive.
When the assigned pump or solenoid operates, the Aqua-X expects the WD-1 to detect water within an adjustable delay period. If the expected water is not detected, the system can issue an irrigation failure alert.
This makes the WD-1 particularly valuable in automated irrigation systems where a missed watering event could otherwise remain unnoticed.
Water leak detection
The WD-1 can also operate as a conventional leak detector. Position the Touch Spot in an area where water should not normally be present, such as around a reservoir, nutrient tank, irrigation equipment or other potential leak point.
When water is detected, the WD-1 communicates the event to the Aqua-X system so the user can be alerted and investigate the cause.
This provides useful protection around irrigation equipment and water storage areas where unnoticed leaks could result in water damage, wasted nutrient solution or loss of reservoir contents.
Installation & Aqua-X integration
Mount the WD-1 Water Detector in a suitable location near the area being monitored. Connect the detector to the Aqua-X system using the supplied RJ12 connection and position the Touch Spot at the required detection point.
For leak detection, place the Touch Spot where leaking water is likely to reach it. For irrigation confirmation, position it where irrigation water or runoff will reliably reach the sensor during a normal watering event.
The WD-1 can then be addressed within the Aqua-X system and configured either as a leak sensor or assigned to the appropriate irrigation output for watering confirmation.
Important information about RO water
The WD-1 detects water through its electrical properties. Municipal water, well water and nutrient solution can normally be detected, but extremely pure reverse osmosis water may contain too few dissolved solids for reliable detection.
If the irrigation system uses very low-EC RO water, confirm reliable detection under the actual operating conditions before depending on the WD-1 for leak or watering confirmation.

TrolMaster WD-1 Water Detector FAQs
What does the TrolMaster WD-1 do?
The WD-1 detects the presence of water and can be configured either to monitor for unwanted leaks or to confirm that water has arrived following an irrigation event. What is watering confirmation?
Watering confirmation allows the control system to check for the physical presence of water after an assigned pump or solenoid has been activated. This provides additional verification that the irrigation event actually occurred. Can the WD-1 detect an irrigation failure?
Yes. When configured for watering confirmation, the WD-1 can be assigned to an irrigation output. If the expected water is not detected within the configured delay period, the Aqua-X system can generate an irrigation failure alert. Can the WD-1 be used purely as a leak detector?
Yes. Leak detection is one of its primary functions. The Touch Spot can be positioned where unwanted water is likely to collect. Where should I position the Touch Spot?
For leak monitoring, place it where leaking water is likely to accumulate. For watering confirmation, position it where irrigation water or runoff will reliably reach the sensor during a normal irrigation event. Does the WD-1 work with the TrolMaster Aqua-X?
Yes. The WD-1 is designed as a water detection accessory for the TrolMaster Aqua-X Irrigation Control System. Can the WD-1 send an alert to my phone?
When used with a correctly configured and connected Aqua-X system, water detection and irrigation failure events can be communicated through the TrolMaster monitoring system and app. Can I use more than one WD-1?
Yes. The Aqua-X system supports multiple WD-1 detectors, allowing different areas or irrigation outputs to be monitored independently. Can one WD-1 monitor a specific pump or solenoid?
Yes. In watering confirmation mode, a WD-1 can be assigned to a controlled irrigation output so the system can check that water is detected when that output operates. Will the WD-1 detect reverse osmosis water?
Not necessarily. Very pure RO water can have extremely low dissolved solids and may not be detected reliably. Detection should be tested under the actual water conditions being used. Does the WD-1 measure substrate moisture?
No. The WD-1 detects the presence of water. It is not a volumetric water content or substrate moisture sensor. Does the WD-1 measure EC or pH?
No. Its purpose is water detection and watering confirmation. EC and pH monitoring require the appropriate TrolMaster sensors and system components. Is the Touch Spot included?
Yes. The WD-1 package includes one Water Detector, one Touch Spot, one RJ12 T-Splitter and one 16ft RJ12 cable. Why use watering confirmation if the controller already operates the pump?
Switching a pump or solenoid confirms that the controller issued the command, but it does not by itself prove that water reached the intended area. The WD-1 adds a physical water-detection point to help identify failures that could otherwise go unnoticed.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster WCS-3 Water Content Sensor is a three-prong Volumetric Water Content (VWC) sensor designed to provide real-time measurement of the moisture level within growing media.
Inserted directly into the growing medium, the WCS-3 measures water content from 0-100% and provides growers with live substrate moisture information. This makes it easier to understand irrigation performance, monitor dry-back between irrigation events and make informed adjustments to watering strategy.
The WCS-3 is suitable for use in growing media including coco coir, soil and rock wool. Rather than relying solely on irrigation timings or judging moisture from the surface of the substrate, growers can monitor changes in actual volumetric water content over time.
A built-in tap-to-wake LCD allows the current VWC percentage to be viewed directly at the sensor. When connected to a compatible TrolMaster controller, readings can also be monitored through the control system, with compatible connected systems providing historical data, alarm functions and mobile monitoring.
Why choose the TrolMaster WCS-3?
Monitor substrate dry-back & irrigation response
Knowing when irrigation has taken place is only part of understanding a crop's water management. The WCS-3 allows growers to see how the water content of the substrate changes following each irrigation event and how quickly that moisture level subsequently declines.
This dry-back information can help identify whether irrigation events are too frequent, too widely spaced or need adjustment as plant demand and environmental conditions change.
When readings are recorded through a compatible TrolMaster system, growers can observe moisture trends rather than relying on a single measurement. This is particularly useful when developing more precise irrigation and crop steering strategies.
Suitable growing media
The three-prong WCS-3 probe is inserted directly into the substrate being monitored. TrolMaster specifies the sensor for growing media including:
Sensor placement is important. Position the probe in a representative part of the root zone and use consistent placement when comparing multiple plants or growing areas.
Water content monitoring for crop steering
The WCS-3 is designed to support crop steering irrigation strategies by giving growers visibility of the substrate's response to irrigation.
Instead of working from irrigation duration and frequency alone, VWC data provides another layer of information showing how much the substrate water content increases following irrigation and how it declines during the subsequent dry-back period.
This information can be used alongside plant stage, environmental conditions and other crop data when refining irrigation schedules.
Built-in tap-to-wake LCD display
The WCS-3 incorporates an LCD directly into the sensor body. The display can be activated by tapping or disturbing the sensor and shows the current VWC percentage at the measurement point.
This allows quick local checks without needing to return to the main controller. The same water-content information can also be viewed through a compatible connected TrolMaster control system.
TrolMaster controller compatibility
The WCS-3 is compatible with a range of TrolMaster control platforms and supports multiple sensors on compatible systems.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster WCS-1 Water Content Sensor provides real-time monitoring of the percentage of water and nutrient solution held within the growing medium, helping growers understand irrigation response and substrate dry-back.
Designed for integration with compatible TrolMaster control systems, the WCS-1 uses a multi-prong substrate probe to monitor moisture within the root zone. The current water-content percentage can be viewed directly on the WCS-1 LCD as well as through the connected controller and TrolMaster app.
Rather than relying on irrigation timings alone, growers can see how the substrate responds after watering and how quickly it dries between irrigation events. This information can then be used to refine irrigation frequency, duration and overall watering strategy.
Historical data can also be displayed as a graph through the TrolMaster app, providing a clear picture of wetting and dry-down cycles over time. When multiple WCS-1 sensors are connected to a single Aqua-X, the controller and app display the average reading from the connected sensors.
Why choose the TrolMaster WCS-1?
Monitor irrigation & substrate dry-back
The WCS-1 allows growers to see what happens inside the growing medium following an irrigation event. As water or nutrient solution enters the substrate, the measured water content rises. As plants use water and the substrate dries, the reading falls.
Viewing this cycle over time provides useful information about the actual behaviour of the root zone. This can help identify irrigation events that are too frequent, insufficient dry-back between waterings or periods where the substrate is becoming drier than intended.
The resulting information can be used alongside crop stage, environmental conditions and plant demand when adjusting an irrigation programme.
Calibration for your growing medium
TrolMaster recommends calibrating each WCS-1 to the growing medium and nutrient solution being used. Different substrates can hold water differently, so calibration helps the sensor provide useful readings for the specific irrigation system.
For calibration, the probe should be installed in the growing medium at approximately one-third of the way up from the bottom of the container, or as close to this position as practical.
Fully saturate the growing medium with the nutrient solution normally used for irrigation until runoff occurs. Allow the medium to sit for approximately 2-3 minutes, then press and hold the WCS-1 addressing button for approximately five seconds to perform the calibration.
Use the normal nutrient solution rather than fresh water when calibrating, as the characteristics of the irrigation solution can affect sensor calibration.
Using multiple WCS-1 sensors
A single Aqua-X NFS-1 can support up to eight WCS-1 Water Content Sensors. This allows sensors to be positioned at representative points throughout a larger irrigation system rather than relying on a single measurement location.
When multiple WCS-1 sensors are connected to one Aqua-X, the value displayed by the Aqua-X controller and app is the average of the connected sensor readings.
This can provide a useful overall indication of substrate moisture across the monitored growing area while individual sensor placement helps account for variation between different locations.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster Aqua-X NFS-1 is a professional modular irrigation controller capable of managing up to 30 individual watering outputs while bringing irrigation scheduling, leak detection, watering confirmation and optional nutrient and substrate monitoring into one expandable control system.
Designed as the central controller for the Aqua-X irrigation system, the NFS-1 can automate 24V solenoid valves and compatible mains-powered pumps through optional TrolMaster control modules. This allows a single controller to manage multiple irrigation zones, rooms, nutrient tanks or other independently scheduled watering circuits.
Irrigation can be configured using conventional scheduled watering events or repeating cycle timers, allowing the system to accommodate anything from straightforward daily irrigation through to frequent short-duration watering strategies.
The system can also be expanded beyond basic irrigation control. Optional TrolMaster sensors allow the Aqua-X to monitor nutrient-solution pH, EC and temperature, while Water Content Sensors can provide information about moisture levels within the growing substrate.
The NFS-1 includes a TrolMaster WD-1 Water Detector and Touch Spot as standard, providing both leak detection and the ability to confirm that irrigation water actually reached the monitored point.
Why choose the TrolMaster Aqua-X NFS-1?
Control up to 30 irrigation outputs
The Aqua-X NFS-1 can control up to 30 individual outputs by connecting compatible TrolMaster control modules. This makes it suitable for installations ranging from a relatively simple automated watering system to larger multi-zone irrigation layouts.
TrolMaster's OA6-24 Control Board provides six individually controlled 24V outputs for compatible solenoid valves, while other Aqua-X modules allow compatible pumps and powered irrigation equipment to be incorporated into the system.
A maximum of five compatible control modules can be connected to the NFS-1, with the combined system supporting up to 30 independently controlled outputs.
Flexible irrigation scheduling
The NFS-1 supports both scheduled and repeating irrigation control, giving growers much greater flexibility than a conventional single-output timer.
Up to 12 individual customisable irrigation schedules can be configured to operate at selected times of day with different watering durations. TrolMaster also provides cycle timer functionality for repeating irrigation events.
ON durations can be configured down to 1 second, while repeating timer OFF periods can be set as low as 1 minute. This makes the Aqua-X particularly useful where irrigation needs to be delivered in short, accurately controlled events.
Water detector included
Every NFS-1 is supplied with a WD-1 Water Detector and Touch Spot. The detector can perform two important roles within an Aqua-X installation.
Leak detection
The Touch Spot can be positioned in an area where unwanted water would collect. If water is detected, the Aqua-X can provide an alert, helping identify leaks before they develop into a larger problem.
Watering confirmation
The WD-1 can alternatively be assigned to a specific irrigation output. When that output is activated, the system can use the detector to confirm that water actually arrived at the monitored location.
This is an important distinction because activating a pump or solenoid does not necessarily mean that water was successfully delivered. A blocked line, empty reservoir, pump problem or other irrigation fault can prevent delivery even though the controller operated correctly.
The NFS-1 can support up to 30 Water Detectors, allowing watering confirmation or leak monitoring to be expanded across a larger irrigation installation.
Expand into nutrient & substrate monitoring
The Aqua-X is more than an irrigation timer. Optional TrolMaster sensors allow the NFS-1 to become a central monitoring platform for both nutrient solution and growing-medium conditions.
pH, EC & nutrient temperature
One optional AMP-2 Sensor Board can be connected to the NFS-1. The AMP-2 supports compatible TrolMaster pH and EC/temperature probes, allowing nutrient-solution pH, electrical conductivity and temperature to be monitored continuously.
Substrate water content
The NFS-1 supports up to eight compatible Water Content Sensors, allowing growers to monitor moisture within the root-zone substrate and use the resulting information to better understand irrigation and dry-back behaviour.
These monitoring functions complement the irrigation controls, allowing watering schedules and actual crop conditions to be viewed within the same Aqua-X ecosystem.
Remote access with the TrolMaster app
When the NFS-1 is connected to a compatible internet service, the free TrolMaster smartphone app provides remote access to Aqua-X information and settings.
Growers can access irrigation settings, monitored sensor information, historical data and system alerts without needing to be physically beside the controller.
This is particularly useful for identifying irrigation failures, leaks or nutrient conditions that move outside configured limits.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster MBS-TH is the replacement 3-in-1 environmental sensor for the Hydro-X HCS-1, combining air temperature, relative humidity and day/night light detection in a single plug-and-play sensor.
The MBS-TH provides the Hydro-X controller with the environmental information it needs to manage compatible heating, cooling, humidification, dehumidification and other climate-control equipment.
Temperature and humidity are continuously measured and reported back to the Hydro-X, while the integrated photocell determines whether the growing area is in its light or dark period. The controller can then use these readings together with compatible TrolMaster Device Stations to automatically manage connected environmental equipment.
This product is supplied as a replacement or spare MBS-TH sensor. A 3-in-1 sensor is already included as standard with a new Hydro-X HCS-1 controller, making this unit ideal for replacing an existing sensor or keeping a spare available for an established installation.
Why choose the TrolMaster MBS-TH?
Temperature & humidity monitoring
Environmental control depends on accurate information about conditions within the crop area. The MBS-TH continuously supplies the Hydro-X with air-temperature and relative-humidity readings, allowing the controller to compare actual conditions against the settings configured by the user.
Compatible TrolMaster control modules can then switch or regulate connected environmental equipment according to those readings. Depending on the equipment and Device Stations installed, a Hydro-X system can be configured to manage heating, cooling, air conditioning, ventilation, humidification and dehumidification.
The MBS-TH therefore acts as one of the primary environmental feedback sensors within a Hydro-X installation.
Built-in day/night photocell
In addition to temperature and humidity, the MBS-TH incorporates a photocell that allows the Hydro-X to identify whether lights are on or off.
The photocell detects the presence of light rather than measuring light intensity. It is therefore used for day/night detection and should not be confused with a PAR or PPFD sensor.
For growers requiring actual photosynthetic light measurement, TrolMaster offers the separate MBS-PAR Full Spectrum Quantum Sensor.
Environmental control with Hydro-X
The MBS-TH itself is a monitoring sensor rather than a switching device. Environmental equipment is controlled through compatible TrolMaster Device Stations connected to the Hydro-X controller.
The controller receives temperature and humidity information from the MBS-TH, compares those readings with the configured environmental settings and then sends the appropriate control commands to the connected Device Stations.
This modular approach allows the Hydro-X system to be configured around the environmental equipment already being used rather than requiring a fixed collection of devices.
Sensor positioning & installation
Position the MBS-TH where it can provide a representative measurement of conditions within the growing environment. Avoid locations directly affected by heaters, air-conditioning outlets, humidifiers or other equipment that could produce an unrepresentative local reading.
The sensor connects to the Hydro-X SENSORS port through the supplied RJ12 cable and T-Splitter. Additional compatible Hydro-X sensors can be daisy-chained using further splitters and RJ12 cabling.
Keep the MBS-TH dry and clean. TrolMaster specifically advises against spraying foreign substances onto the sensor or allowing water or condensation to collect on it, as contamination or moisture can cause premature sensor failure.
Hydro-X compatibility
The MBS-TH is specifically designed as the 3-in-1 environmental sensor for the original TrolMaster Hydro-X HCS-1.
It should not be confused with the MBS-PRO used by the Hydro-X Pro and Hydro-X Plus systems. The MBS-PRO is a different 4-in-1 sensor that additionally measures CO2 concentration.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster MBS-SD is an optional smoke detection sensor designed to integrate directly with compatible TrolMaster environmental control systems, providing continuous smoke monitoring and remote warning through the TrolMaster system.
When smoke is detected, the MBS-SD communicates with the connected TrolMaster controller so the user can be alerted to a potential problem. On an internet-connected Hydro-X system, an alert can also be sent to the user's smartphone through the TrolMaster app.
Multiple MBS-SD sensors can be installed to monitor different areas. The original Hydro-X HCS-1 supports up to five smoke detectors, allowing coverage to be expanded across a larger controlled environment.
Installation is straightforward using TrolMaster's RJ12 sensor network. The MBS-SD is supplied with a 16ft RJ12 cable and T-Splitter, allowing it to be daisy-chained alongside other compatible TrolMaster sensors.
Why choose the TrolMaster MBS-SD?
Smoke detection integrated with environmental control
Controlled horticultural environments can contain lighting systems, environmental-control equipment, pumps, fans and other electrical devices that may operate for long periods without constant supervision.
The MBS-SD adds smoke detection directly to the TrolMaster monitoring system. If a connected detector identifies smoke, the controller can generate an alarm so the user is made aware of the potential problem.
When remote connectivity is configured, this warning can also be delivered through the TrolMaster smartphone app. This makes the MBS-SD particularly useful for facilities that are not continuously occupied.
Multiple detectors for wider coverage
A single detector may not be appropriate for every installation, particularly where equipment is distributed across a larger space. TrolMaster therefore allows multiple MBS-SD sensors to be connected to compatible controllers.
The original Hydro-X HCS-1 supports up to five MBS-SD smoke detectors. Each detector is connected to the sensor network and assigned an address using the small button built into the unit.
If any connected MBS-SD detects smoke, the Hydro-X can generate a warning to alert the user.
Plug-and-play RJ12 installation
The MBS-SD connects to the controller's sensor network using the supplied RJ12 cable and T-Splitter. Other compatible sensors can be daisy-chained along the same sensor connection using additional T-Splitters and RJ12 cables.
Once connected, the small address-assignment button on the MBS-SD is used to allow the controller to identify the detector.
Position detectors appropriately within the monitored environment and follow the TrolMaster installation instructions when adding multiple sensors.
Sensor care
The MBS-SD should be kept dry and clean. TrolMaster advises against spraying foreign substances onto its sensors or allowing water or condensation to collect on them.
Moisture, contamination or residues entering the sensor can cause incorrect operation or premature failure, so detector placement should take this into account.
Important safety information
The MBS-SD provides additional smoke monitoring as part of a compatible TrolMaster environmental control installation. It should be treated as an additional monitoring and alerting device rather than as a substitute for any smoke alarms, fire detection systems or other life-safety equipment required for the premises.
Appropriate certified fire detection and alarm equipment should always be installed and maintained where required by the building, application and applicable regulations.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster MBS-PRO is a professional 4-in-1 environmental sensor combining air temperature, relative humidity, CO2 concentration and day/night light detection in a single unit for the Hydro-X Pro and Hydro-X Plus control systems.
By combining four important environmental measurements into one sensor, the MBS-PRO gives a compatible TrolMaster controller the real-time information required to manage temperature, humidity and CO2 equipment while automatically identifying whether the controlled area is in its light or dark period.
Unlike the MBS-TH used with the original Hydro-X HCS-1, the MBS-PRO incorporates a dedicated CO2 sensor and an onboard LCD display. Current environmental conditions can therefore be checked directly at the sensor as well as through the connected TrolMaster controller.
Multiple MBS-PRO sensors can be positioned throughout larger installations, allowing conditions to be measured at different locations rather than relying on a single environmental reading for the entire area.
Why choose the TrolMaster MBS-PRO?
Four environmental measurements from one sensor
The MBS-PRO combines several measurements that would otherwise require separate environmental sensors. Data is continuously sent to the connected Hydro-X Pro or Hydro-X Plus controller, where it can be used for environmental monitoring and equipment control.
Air temperature
Temperature information can be used by the controller to operate compatible heating, cooling, air-conditioning and ventilation equipment through the appropriate TrolMaster control modules.
Relative humidity
Continuous relative-humidity monitoring allows compatible humidifiers, dehumidifiers and ventilation equipment to respond to changing moisture levels in the air.
CO2 concentration
The integrated CO2 sensor measures carbon dioxide concentration in parts per million (PPM). Compatible TrolMaster control equipment can use this information to manage CO2 supplementation and maintain configured CO2 parameters.
Day/night light detection
The built-in photocell detects whether light is present, allowing the controller to determine whether the environment is in its day or night period.
Day/night sensor, not a PAR meter
The MBS-PRO photocell detects the presence of light, not its intensity. This distinction is important when selecting sensors for a TrolMaster system.
The MBS-PRO tells the controller whether the lights are effectively on or off. It does not measure PAR, PPFD or Daily Light Integral.
For actual photosynthetic light measurement, the separate TrolMaster MBS-PAR Full Spectrum Quantum Sensor is required. Compatible Hydro-X Pro and Hydro-X Plus systems can use the MBS-PAR for advanced light-level and DLI monitoring and control.
Multi-point environmental monitoring
One of the major advantages of the MBS-PRO is its ability to form part of a multi-sensor installation. Environmental conditions can vary considerably across a larger controlled area, particularly around lighting, ventilation outlets, heating and cooling equipment.
Multiple MBS-PRO sensors can therefore be positioned at different locations to provide a better understanding of conditions throughout the environment.
Depending on the controller and configuration, sensor readings can be averaged together or individual sensors can be associated with specific control equipment. This allows the TrolMaster system to respond to conditions in a particular section rather than relying solely on one central reading.
Hydro-X Pro & Hydro-X Plus compatibility
| Hydro-X Pro HCS-2 | Compatible. The HCS-2 supports up to 50 sensors in combination across its compatible sensor types. |
|---|---|
| Hydro-X Plus HCS-3 | Compatible. Up to 6 MBS-PRO sensors can be connected to one HCS-3 system. |
| Original Hydro-X HCS-1 | Not the standard sensor for this controller. The HCS-1 uses the MBS-TH 3-in-1 sensor and separate MBS-S8 CO2 sensor. |
A new Hydro-X Pro or Hydro-X Plus controller is supplied with an MBS-PRO as its primary environmental sensor. This separately supplied unit is therefore ideal for replacing an existing sensor or expanding a compatible system with additional environmental monitoring points.
Important SPH-1 power requirement
TrolMaster specifies that the MBS-PRO requires the SPH-1 Sensor Hub for supplemental power.
This is particularly important when designing or expanding a multi-sensor installation. The SPH-1 provides the additional power and connection capacity required by the MBS-PRO sensor network.
Sensor positioning
Position the MBS-PRO where it can provide a representative measurement of the environmental conditions experienced by the crop.
Avoid locations where readings could be disproportionately affected by direct heating, cooling outlets, humidifiers, dehumidifiers or concentrated CO2 discharge. When several MBS-PRO sensors are installed, positioning them across different sections of the controlled environment can provide more useful information about environmental variation.
The sensor's built-in LCD makes it particularly useful during installation and routine checks because conditions at each individual sensor location can be viewed directly without returning to the main controller.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster LMA-G Group Control Lighting Adapter is designed to divide compatible ThinkGrow Model-I and Model-I Plus LED fixtures into independently controlled lighting groups when used with a compatible TrolMaster lighting control system.
Instead of operating every compatible ThinkGrow fixture as one lighting group, the LMA-G allows separate groups of fixtures to be created. Each group can then be assigned its own lighting settings through a compatible TrolMaster controller.
One LMA-G is required for each lighting group. This gives commercial growers and larger controlled-environment installations much greater flexibility when different sections require separate lighting schedules, output levels or spectrum settings.
The LMA-G features an integrated LCD display for group addressing and is supplied with a 12ft ECS-9 RJ12-to-4-pin connector cable for integration with the ThinkGrow lighting system.
Why choose the TrolMaster LMA-G?
Create independently controlled lighting groups
Large lighting installations do not always need every fixture to operate identically. Different areas may contain crops at different developmental stages, require different light levels or operate on separate production schedules.
The LMA-G allows compatible ThinkGrow fixtures to be organised into separate groups so that the TrolMaster controller can manage those groups independently.
Each lighting group requires one LMA-G. For example, an installation divided into four separately controlled groups would require four LMA-G adapters together with the appropriate compatible TrolMaster lighting-control hardware.
ThinkGrow Model-I & Model-I Plus compatibility
The LMA-G is specifically designed for compatible ThinkGrow Model-I and Model-I Plus single-bar LED fixtures.
It forms part of the TrolMaster/ThinkGrow digital lighting-control system and works alongside the appropriate lighting-control adapter. It is not a universal 0-10V group adapter for unrelated lighting systems.
For grouping compatible lighting systems that use the conventional 0-10V control protocol, TrolMaster offers the separate LMA-14G Group Control Adapter.
Hydro-X Pro & Hydro-X Plus group control
TrolMaster's Hydro-X Pro and Hydro-X Plus controllers provide advanced group-control functionality for compatible ThinkGrow lighting installations.
Up to 10 separate groups of ThinkGrow LEDs can be configured on a compatible controller. This allows different areas of a commercial growing environment to operate with individual lighting settings while remaining part of the same central TrolMaster control system.
Group control can be particularly useful for multi-zone production areas, staggered crop cycles and installations where lighting requirements vary across different sections.
How the LMA-G connects
The LMA-G is designed to operate alongside a compatible TrolMaster lighting-control adapter. The group adapter communicates with the TrolMaster system through an RJ12 connection and interfaces with compatible ThinkGrow fixtures using the supplied ECS-9 cable.
The ECS-9 is a 12ft cable with an RJ12 connection at one end and the appropriate 4-pin ThinkGrow connector at the other.
Once connected, the LCD display on the LMA-G is used for group addressing so the controller can identify the fixtures associated with that particular lighting group.
Important compatibility information
The LMA-G is a group-control accessory. TrolMaster specifies that it must be used with a compatible lighting-control adapter to provide group-control functionality.
It does not supply mains power to the lighting fixtures and should not be treated as a lighting contactor or mains switching device. Fixtures must be powered and installed according to the ThinkGrow lighting-system requirements.
Always confirm the exact ThinkGrow fixture model and TrolMaster controller configuration before specifying adapters for a larger installation.

Unit price per£34.95
Unit price perThe TrolMaster LMA-15 is a specialised lighting control adapter designed to connect compatible DLI-controlled lighting fixtures to the TrolMaster Hydro-X environmental control system, enabling centralised switching and dimming through the controller.
Rather than switching the mains supply to the lighting fixtures, the LMA-15 communicates with compatible lighting equipment through its low-voltage DLI control interface. This allows the Hydro-X to manage lighting output while the fixtures remain connected to their normal electrical supply.
Once integrated into a compatible installation, the Hydro-X can control the connected lighting system according to programmed lighting schedules and output settings, bringing lighting management into the same platform used for environmental control.
The LMA-15 is intended specifically for lighting systems using the compatible DLI control protocol. Lighting-control protocols and connections vary considerably between manufacturers, so fixture compatibility should always be confirmed before installation.
Why choose the TrolMaster LMA-15?
Bring lighting into the Hydro-X control system
Environmental control and lighting are closely connected. Lighting affects crop development as well as the heat load placed on the controlled environment, so incorporating lighting into the same control platform can simplify day-to-day management.
The LMA-15 acts as the communication interface between the Hydro-X and a compatible DLI lighting system. The Hydro-X provides the control commands, while the LMA-15 translates those commands into the signal required by the compatible lighting fixtures.
This allows the lighting system to form part of the wider TrolMaster environmental-control installation without requiring the controller itself to carry the electrical load of the fixtures.
Automated dimming control
When used with compatible dimmable fixtures, the LMA-15 allows lighting output to be adjusted through the TrolMaster controller rather than relying solely on manual controls fitted to individual luminaires.
This is particularly useful in installations containing multiple fixtures, where manually adjusting every luminaire can be time-consuming and can make consistent settings more difficult to maintain.
Centralised dimming also provides greater flexibility when different light-output levels are required as a crop develops.
DLI protocol vs Daily Light Integral
In the LMA-15 product name, DLI refers to the lighting control interface used by compatible fixtures. It should not be confused with Daily Light Integral, which is a horticultural measurement describing the total quantity of photosynthetically active light received over a 24-hour period.
The LMA-15 does not itself measure PAR, PPFD or Daily Light Integral. Where actual photosynthetic light measurement is required, TrolMaster's MBS-PAR Full Spectrum Quantum Sensor is designed for that purpose on compatible control systems.
Check lighting compatibility before installation
Lighting manufacturers use several different control protocols and connector arrangements. The LMA-15 should therefore only be used with fixtures specifically compatible with its DLI control interface.
Do not select a lighting adapter purely on the basis that a fixture is dimmable. A fixture may use 0-10V, PWM, RS485, DLI or another manufacturer-specific control method, and the correct TrolMaster adapter must match the lighting system.
If the lighting system uses a different control protocol, another adapter from the TrolMaster LMA range may be required.
How the LMA-15 works
The LMA-15 is installed between the compatible TrolMaster control network and the lighting system's low-voltage control connection.
The lighting fixtures continue to receive their normal mains electrical supply independently. The LMA-15 carries control information only and does not act as a mains contactor or provide operating power to the fixtures.
Where several compatible fixtures are linked together, follow the lighting manufacturer's requirements for control cabling, daisy-chaining and maximum fixture quantities.

TrolMaster LMA-15 Lighting Control Adapter FAQs
What does the TrolMaster LMA-15 do?
The LMA-15 provides an interface between a compatible TrolMaster Hydro-X controller and lighting fixtures using the supported DLI control protocol. Can the LMA-15 dim compatible lights?
Yes. When used with compatible dimmable lighting equipment, the LMA-15 allows lighting output to be controlled through the TrolMaster system. Can the Hydro-X automatically switch the lights on and off?
Yes. Compatible lighting can be operated according to lighting schedules configured through the TrolMaster control system. Does DLI mean Daily Light Integral on the LMA-15?
No. In the context of the LMA-15, DLI identifies the compatible lighting control interface. The adapter does not itself measure Daily Light Integral. Does the LMA-15 measure PAR or PPFD?
No. It is a lighting control adapter rather than a light sensor. PAR and PPFD measurement requires a compatible quantum sensor such as the TrolMaster MBS-PAR. Will the LMA-15 work with any dimmable LED fixture?
No. Dimmable lighting systems can use different communication protocols. The fixture must be compatible with the control interface supported by the LMA-15. Can I use the LMA-15 with a 0-10V light?
Not simply because the fixture is dimmable. TrolMaster produces different LMA adapters for different lighting protocols, so the correct adapter should be selected for the specific fixture. Does the LMA-15 power the lighting fixtures?
No. The lighting fixtures retain their normal mains electrical supply. The LMA-15 handles the low-voltage control signal used to manage compatible fixtures. Does the LMA-15 replace a lighting contactor?
No. It is a control-interface adapter and does not carry the mains electrical load of the connected lighting system. Can multiple compatible lights be controlled together?
Yes, where the lighting system supports linking multiple fixtures through its control network. Always follow the fixture manufacturer's requirements for control cabling and maximum connected fixture quantities. Why use centralised lighting control?
Centralised control allows compatible fixtures to follow common schedules and output settings without manually adjusting each individual luminaire, making larger installations easier to manage consistently. Can lighting output be changed as the crop develops?
Yes. Compatible dimmable lighting can be operated at different output levels through the TrolMaster system, allowing lighting intensity to be adjusted as requirements change. How do I know whether my light needs an LMA-15?
Check the lighting manufacturer's control protocol and TrolMaster's compatibility information for the specific fixture model. The correct LMA adapter is determined by the control interface used by the lighting system.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster LMA-11 Lighting Control Adapter P is designed to connect compatible Phantom lighting ballasts to the TrolMaster Hydro-X environmental control system, allowing centralised lighting control from the Hydro-X controller.
The LMA-11 acts as the communication interface between the TrolMaster controller and compatible Phantom ballasts. Once installed, the Hydro-X can manage the lighting system's operating schedule and compatible output settings without having to switch the full mains load of the lighting equipment through the controller itself.
This makes the LMA-11 particularly useful in larger controlled-environment installations where several compatible Phantom ballasts need to operate together from one central lighting-control system.
The LMA-11 is a model-specific lighting adapter. It should only be specified for compatible Phantom lighting equipment using the appropriate control interface, rather than being treated as a universal ballast or LED controller.
Why choose the TrolMaster LMA-11?
Centralised Phantom ballast control
Individually controlling a large number of lighting ballasts can quickly become impractical. The LMA-11 allows compatible Phantom ballasts to become part of the TrolMaster lighting-control network so that lighting operation can be managed centrally.
The TrolMaster controller determines when the lighting system should operate and sends the appropriate control signal through the LMA-11 to the compatible ballasts.
This provides a cleaner approach to lighting automation while allowing the ballasts to retain their normal electrical supply.
Lighting output control
Where supported by the connected Phantom ballast, the LMA-11 allows compatible lighting output settings to be controlled through the TrolMaster system.
Central output control is useful where light intensity needs to be adjusted as the crop develops or where a large bank of fixtures needs to operate consistently at the same setting.
Actual available output levels depend on the compatible ballast being controlled, so the ballast manufacturer's specifications should always be checked when designing the lighting system.
How the LMA-11 works
The LMA-11 sits between the compatible TrolMaster controller and the Phantom ballast control network. It converts the lighting-control command from the TrolMaster system into the appropriate signal required by the compatible ballast.
The LMA-11 does not supply mains power to the ballast. The ballast and lighting equipment remain connected to their normal electrical supply, while the LMA-11 handles the low-voltage control communication.
Where several compatible ballasts are linked together, follow the lighting manufacturer's instructions for control cabling, daisy-chaining and maximum supported ballast quantities.
Important ballast compatibility
TrolMaster manufactures a range of LMA lighting adapters because different ballast and lighting manufacturers use different control protocols.
The LMA-11 is the "P" lighting adapter intended for compatible Phantom ballasts. It should not be assumed to work with another brand simply because that ballast is externally controllable or dimmable.
Always confirm the exact ballast model and its compatibility with the LMA-11 before installation. Other lighting brands and control protocols may require a different TrolMaster LMA adapter.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster HS-1 Humidistat Station allows the Hydro-X environmental control system to directly control compatible commercial dehumidifiers equipped with a 24V low-voltage humidistat connection.
Many larger commercial dehumidifiers provide low-voltage terminals that allow an external humidistat to control the unit. The HS-1 connects to these terminals in the same way as a conventional external humidistat, while allowing humidity control to be managed centrally by the TrolMaster Hydro-X.
This approach avoids switching the dehumidifier's high mains current through a plug-in control module. Instead, the HS-1 uses the dehumidifier's dedicated 24V control circuit, making it particularly suitable for high-capacity commercial dehumidification equipment with substantial running and inrush current.
Separate day and night humidity targets can be configured through the Hydro-X. The HS-1 then operates the connected dehumidifier according to the required humidity setpoint.
Why choose the TrolMaster HS-1?
How the HS-1 controls a dehumidifier
A compatible commercial dehumidifier has a low-voltage control terminal designed for connection to an external humidistat. The HS-1 is wired to this control connection and effectively replaces the conventional stand-alone humidistat.
The HS-1 is then connected to the Hydro-X through the controller's device network. Humidity settings are configured through the Hydro-X rather than independently at the dehumidifier.
When the current measured relative humidity rises above the selected setpoint, the HS-1 signals the connected dehumidifier to operate. Once humidity has been reduced to the required level, the system stops calling for dehumidification.
Local LCD humidity display
The HS-1 has its own LCD display, providing useful information directly beside the dehumidifier.
TrolMaster configures the display to show the humidity setpoint in the upper section and the current relative humidity in the lower section. This allows the operating condition to be checked locally without returning to the main Hydro-X controller.
Ideal for high-capacity commercial dehumidifiers
Large dehumidifiers can draw significant current, particularly when compressors start. This can make direct mains switching unsuitable for some conventional environmental-control modules.
The HS-1 avoids that issue by using the dehumidifier's own low-voltage external control connection. The HS-1 is therefore not carrying the compressor's mains electrical load.
This is the key difference between the HS-1 and a plug-in TrolMaster DSH humidity device station. A DSH module switches mains power to a connected humidifier or dehumidifier, while the HS-1 operates the dedicated 24V humidistat terminals provided on compatible commercial dehumidifiers.
24V dehumidifier compatibility
The HS-1 is designed for commercial dehumidifiers that provide a compatible 24V external humidistat terminal.
TrolMaster publishes connection information for commercial dehumidification equipment including compatible Quest and Anden systems, but compatibility should always be confirmed against the exact dehumidifier model before wiring.
A dehumidifier that only provides a mains plug and does not have a compatible low-voltage external humidistat connection will normally require a different TrolMaster control method.
Installation & connection
The HS-1 can be wall or surface mounted near the dehumidifier using its removable mounting bracket. The dehumidifier's low-voltage control wiring is connected to the appropriate terminals on the HS-1.
The HS-1 then connects to the Hydro-X device network using the supplied RJ12 cabling. Once connected, the addressing button is used to assign the HS-1 to the controller.
Because terminal functions and wiring arrangements can vary between dehumidifier manufacturers and models, the TrolMaster wiring diagram and the dehumidifier manufacturer's instructions should be followed during installation.
The HS-1 is designed for indoor use and should be protected from water, excessive heat and condensation.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster EFC-1 EC Fan Control Adapter provides variable-speed control of compatible electronically commutated fans using either PWM or 0-10V control signals, allowing ventilation to be integrated into compatible TrolMaster control systems.
Modern EC fans are designed to vary their speed through a low-voltage control signal rather than by reducing their mains supply voltage. The EFC-1 provides the interface between the TrolMaster controller and this variable-speed input, allowing fan output to be automatically adjusted as ventilation requirements change.
The EFC-1 can be configured for either PWM or 0-10V operation, making it suitable for a wide range of compatible EC ventilation fans. The fan retains its normal electrical supply while the EFC-1 manages the separate low-voltage speed-control signal.
On the TrolMaster Tent-X TCS-1, two EFC-1 adapters can be used, providing separate control of an exhaust fan and an intake fan. The EFC-1 is also supported by TrolMaster's Green-X GCS-1 greenhouse control system, where up to four standard EC fans can be independently connected through EFC-1 adapters.
Why choose the TrolMaster EFC-1?
What is an EC fan?
An EC fan uses an electronically commutated motor with integrated electronics to control motor operation. Many EC ventilation fans include a dedicated low-voltage speed-control connection that accepts either a 0-10V or PWM signal.
This allows fan speed to be varied electronically without repeatedly switching the fan's mains supply or using a conventional AC voltage-reducing speed controller.
The EFC-1 takes advantage of this control input, allowing a compatible TrolMaster system to request the fan speed required for the current environmental conditions.
PWM & 0-10V fan control
EC fan manufacturers use different low-voltage control methods. The EFC-1 supports the two common control types used by standard EC ventilation fans:
0-10V control
With a compatible 0-10V EC fan, the EFC-1 varies the analogue control voltage sent to the fan. The fan's electronics interpret that signal and adjust motor speed accordingly.
PWM control
For compatible PWM-controlled fans, the EFC-1 provides a pulse-width modulation control signal. The adapter must be configured for the appropriate mode to match the fan being connected.
Always confirm whether the fan requires PWM or 0-10V control before configuration. The fact that a fan uses an EC motor does not automatically confirm its control protocol or connector arrangement.
Intake & extraction control with Tent-X
The TrolMaster Tent-X TCS-1 supports up to two EFC-1 EC Fan Control Adapters. These are automatically assigned to the two dedicated ventilation functions:
| F1 | Exhaust / extraction fan |
|---|---|
| F2 | Intake fan |
Each ventilation line requires its own EFC-1. This allows intake and extraction airflow to be controlled separately rather than operating both fans from a single speed signal.
By varying fan speed rather than simply switching ventilation fully on or off, a compatible control system can provide smoother and more responsive airflow management.
Green-X EC fan control
The EFC-1 is also supported by the TrolMaster Green-X GCS-1 greenhouse controller. The GCS-1 can control up to four standard EC fans, with each fan connected through its own EFC-1 adapter.
This makes the adapter suitable for larger controlled horticultural environments where several independently managed ventilation fans are required.
TrolMaster Aero-Fan models use their own direct communication method and do not require an EFC-1 when connected to a compatible Green-X controller.
How the EFC-1 connects
The EFC-1 connects to the compatible TrolMaster controller through the controller's device network. The opposite side of the adapter connects to the compatible EC fan's low-voltage speed-control input.
A fan's main electrical supply remains separate. The EFC-1 is a control-signal adapter and does not provide mains operating power to the fan.
The EFC-1 package includes an RJ12-to-female-barrel cable. The exact connection required at the fan depends on the fan manufacturer's control interface, so its wiring and control specifications should be checked before installation.
Check EC fan compatibility
The EFC-1 is designed for standard variable-speed EC fans that accept a compatible PWM or 0-10V low-voltage control signal.
It is not a universal speed controller for conventional AC induction fans. Fans designed to have their mains voltage varied require a different type of controller.
Before installation, confirm the fan's control protocol, control-voltage requirements and connector or terminal arrangement. Where necessary, refer to the fan manufacturer's wiring information before making the control connection.

TrolMaster EFC-1 EC Fan Control Adapter FAQs
What does the TrolMaster EFC-1 do?
The EFC-1 allows a compatible TrolMaster controller to vary the speed of a standard EC ventilation fan using either a PWM or 0-10V control signal. What types of fan control does the EFC-1 support?
The EFC-1 supports compatible EC fans using PWM or 0-10V variable-speed control. The appropriate mode is selected to suit the connected fan. Can the EFC-1 control any EC fan?
No. The fan must provide a compatible PWM or 0-10V low-voltage speed-control input. Always check the specifications of the exact fan before installation. Can the EFC-1 control a normal AC fan?
Not if the fan requires its mains supply voltage or frequency to be varied for speed control. The EFC-1 is intended for EC fans with a compatible low-voltage control input. Does the EFC-1 power the fan?
No. The EC fan retains its normal electrical supply. The EFC-1 controls the separate low-voltage signal that tells the fan's integrated electronics what speed to operate at. What is 0-10V EC fan control?
A compatible EC fan interprets a variable low-voltage analogue signal to determine its required speed. The EFC-1 generates the appropriate control signal under instruction from the TrolMaster controller. What is PWM fan control?
PWM stands for pulse-width modulation. A compatible fan uses the characteristics of a pulsed control signal to determine the requested operating speed. Can the Tent-X control both intake and extraction fans?
Yes. The Tent-X TCS-1 supports up to two EFC-1 adapters. One is assigned as F1 for the exhaust fan and the second as F2 for the intake fan. Do I need two EFC-1 adapters for intake and extraction?
Yes. Each independently controlled standard EC fan line requires its own EFC-1, so separate intake and exhaust control requires two adapters. Can the EFC-1 be used with Green-X?
Yes. The Green-X GCS-1 supports up to four EFC-1 adapters, allowing up to four standard compatible EC fans to be independently controlled. Do TrolMaster Aero-Fans require an EFC-1?
Not when they are being used with a compatible controller that supports direct Aero-Fan communication. For example, the Green-X GCS-1 can communicate directly with Aero-Fans without an EFC-1 adapter. Why use variable-speed ventilation instead of simple on/off control?
Variable-speed control allows airflow to be adjusted to suit current requirements instead of repeatedly operating the fan at full output. This provides more flexible ventilation management when used with a compatible control system. What cable is supplied with the EFC-1?
TrolMaster supplies the EFC-1 with an RJ12-to-female-barrel connection cable. The connection required at the fan itself depends on the specific fan model. How do I know whether my fan uses PWM or 0-10V?
Check the fan manufacturer's technical specifications or wiring diagram. The EFC-1 must be configured to match the control method required by the connected fan.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster DSP-2U 240V Program Device Station is a UK Type G programmable power-control module that allows compatible TrolMaster systems to automatically switch 240V equipment according to programmed time schedules.
Designed as a multi-function timer module, the DSP-2U provides a straightforward way to bring pumps, solenoid valves and other suitable time-controlled electrical equipment into a TrolMaster automation system.
Equipment connects directly to the UK Type G socket on the DSP-2U. The station then switches power to the connected device according to the schedule configured on the compatible TrolMaster controller.
The DSP-2 platform supports loads up to 10A and operates across 100-240V AC, 50/60Hz. This UK version uses the familiar three-rectangular-pin Type G socket and plug arrangement for 230-240V installations.
Why choose the TrolMaster DSP-2U?
Turn standard electrical equipment into a programmable device
The DSP-2U is designed for equipment that needs to operate according to time rather than an environmental measurement such as temperature, humidity or CO2.
Once the station has been connected and addressed, the compatible TrolMaster controller determines when the output should be energised. The DSP-2U then supplies mains power to the connected equipment during those programmed periods.
This makes it useful for equipment such as suitable irrigation pumps, electrically operated valves and other devices where automatic scheduled operation is required.
Suitable applications
The DSP-2U can be used with suitable 230-240V equipment provided the connected load remains within the station's electrical rating and is appropriate for switched operation.
The DSP-2U is an on/off power controller. It does not provide variable-speed control, variable-voltage control or proportional output.
LED status & manual override
The DSP-2 uses its LED indicator to provide immediate information about the station's operating condition.
| Fast flashing green | The station has not yet been addressed to the controller or communication with the controller has been lost. |
|---|---|
| Slow flashing green | The station is addressed and communicating correctly, but its switched output is currently off. |
| Solid green | The station is addressed, connected and its switched output is currently on. |
| Flashing red | The station has detected an overload condition. Disconnect power and investigate the connected load before resetting the station. |
Pressing and holding the station's button provides a manual on/off override, useful during setup, maintenance and equipment testing.
TrolMaster system compatibility
The DSP-2 Program Device Station is used across several TrolMaster control platforms, although the number of programmable outputs and available scheduling functions depend on the controller being used.
| Hydro-X | Compatible as a programmable timer-controlled device station. |
|---|---|
| Aqua-X | Compatible for timed irrigation equipment and other suitable scheduled devices. Program Device Stations can form part of the Aqua-X control-output network. |
| Green-X | Compatible. Green-X provides two dedicated program/timer device positions, while DSP-1/2 modules can also be used for timer-based irrigation control. |
Always configure the DSP-2U according to the instructions for the specific TrolMaster controller being used, as scheduling options and device capacities vary between systems.
10A switched output
The DSP-2 platform is rated for an output current of up to 10A. The connected equipment must remain within the electrical limits of the station.
Particular care should be taken with equipment containing motors, compressors or other inductive loads because starting current can be substantially higher than the normal running current shown on the equipment rating plate.
Where a device exceeds the DSP-2U's permitted load or has a high starting current, an appropriately specified external contactor or relay arrangement may be required instead of switching the equipment directly through the station.
Plug-and-play installation
Connect the DSP-2U to the appropriate device-control connection on the compatible TrolMaster controller using the supplied RJ12 cable and T-Splitter arrangement.
Once connected, press the addressing button to allow the controller to identify and assign the Program Device Station. The equipment to be controlled can then be connected to the DSP-2U's UK Type G output socket.
After addressing, configure the required program or irrigation schedule through the connected controller. Installation and electrical loading must comply with applicable electrical regulations and the requirements of the connected equipment.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster DCC-1 Dual Condition Adapter is designed for the Hydro-X environmental control system and allows a single connected device to be controlled by more than one environmental condition.
Standard Hydro-X Device Stations normally operate according to one environmental parameter, such as temperature or humidity. The DCC-1 adds another layer of control by combining two selected conditions, allowing equipment to operate only when the required combination of environmental conditions has been met.
This is particularly useful for equipment that influences more than one aspect of the controlled environment. Ventilation is a good example: an extraction fan can affect both temperature and humidity, so controlling it from a combination of these parameters can provide more intelligent operation than responding to either measurement alone.
The DCC-1 can be configured to work in AND or OR mode, giving the installer control over how the two environmental conditions interact before the connected device is activated.
Why choose the TrolMaster DCC-1?
AND or OR environmental control
The key feature of the DCC-1 is its ability to determine whether a connected device should operate according to two separate control conditions.
AND mode
In AND mode, both selected conditions must be calling for the equipment to operate before the DCC-1 activates the connected Device Station.
For example, if temperature and humidity are selected, an extraction device could be configured to operate only when the temperature is too high and the humidity is also above its target.
OR mode
In OR mode, either selected condition can call for the equipment to operate.
Using the same temperature and humidity example, the extraction equipment could operate when the temperature becomes too high or when humidity rises above its target.
This gives the installer much greater flexibility when deciding exactly how multifunction environmental equipment should respond.
Four selectable control conditions
The DCC-1 provides four control-condition selections that correspond with key Hydro-X control functions.
| Temperature | Allows the connected equipment to respond to the Hydro-X temperature-control condition. |
|---|---|
| Humidity | Allows operation to be linked to the Hydro-X relative-humidity control condition. |
| CO2 | Allows the device to respond to the controller's CO2 control condition where appropriate. |
| Program | Allows a programmed or timer-based condition to form part of the dual-control logic. |
Two of these conditions are selected and the DCC-1 then applies either AND or OR logic to determine when the connected equipment should operate.
Example: temperature & humidity ventilation control
Ventilation equipment can have a major influence on both air temperature and relative humidity. A standard single-condition controller may operate an extraction fan according to only one of those parameters.
The DCC-1 allows both conditions to be considered.
Temperature AND humidity
The extraction equipment operates only when both temperature and humidity have reached the conditions configured to call for ventilation. This can reduce unnecessary operation where only one parameter has moved away from its target.
Temperature OR humidity
The extraction equipment can operate as soon as either temperature or humidity reaches its configured control point. This can be useful where ventilation is required to correct either environmental condition independently.
The appropriate configuration depends on the environmental strategy and the equipment being controlled.
Designed to work with TrolMaster Device Stations
The DCC-1 is a control-logic adapter rather than a mains switching device. It is installed between the Hydro-X control system and the appropriate TrolMaster Device Station.
The Device Station then performs the actual equipment switching. This means the correct Device Station still needs to be selected for the electrical equipment and application.
For example, a suitable TrolMaster temperature, humidity or programme Device Station may be used depending on the equipment being controlled and the required installation.
Always check the electrical rating of the Device Station against the connected equipment. Motors, compressors and other inductive loads can have a starting current considerably higher than their normal running current.
Simple Hydro-X integration
The DCC-1 connects into the Hydro-X control network and provides selectable inputs for the environmental conditions that will form the dual-control rule.
Once the two required conditions have been selected, the DCC-1 is set to either AND or OR operation. The output is then connected to the appropriate TrolMaster Device Station controlling the equipment.
Because the DCC-1 deals with control logic rather than directly powering the environmental equipment, the electrical requirements of the connected load are determined by the Device Station or switching equipment used with it.

TrolMaster DCC-1 Dual Condition Adapter FAQs
What does the TrolMaster DCC-1 do?
The DCC-1 allows one compatible Hydro-X controlled device to respond to two different control conditions rather than being controlled by a single environmental parameter. What conditions can the DCC-1 use?
The DCC-1 provides selections for temperature, humidity, CO2 and program/timer control. Two conditions are selected for the required application. What does AND mode mean?
AND mode means both selected conditions must be calling for operation before the connected Device Station is activated. What does OR mode mean?
OR mode means either of the two selected conditions can activate the connected Device Station. Can I control a fan using both temperature and humidity?
Yes. This is a useful application for the DCC-1 because ventilation can influence both temperature and relative humidity. What is the difference between temperature AND humidity and temperature OR humidity?
With AND selected, both temperature and humidity conditions must call for operation. With OR selected, either condition can call for the connected equipment to operate. Does the DCC-1 switch mains equipment directly?
No. The DCC-1 handles the control logic. The connected equipment is switched through the appropriate compatible TrolMaster Device Station. Do I still need a Device Station?
Yes. The DCC-1 is used with a compatible TrolMaster Device Station, which performs the actual switching of the connected equipment. Can the DCC-1 vary fan speed?
No. The DCC-1 provides dual-condition control logic. Variable-speed EC fan control requires the appropriate TrolMaster fan-control hardware, such as an EFC-1 where compatible. Can the DCC-1 be used for CO2 control?
CO2 is one of the available control-condition selections, allowing it to be combined with another supported condition where appropriate for the equipment and control strategy. Can a timer be one of the two conditions?
Yes. Program/timer control is one of the selectable conditions, allowing equipment operation to depend on both a programmed period and another environmental condition. Why use dual-condition control?
Some environmental equipment affects several parameters at the same time. Dual-condition logic allows the system to consider two factors before deciding whether that equipment should operate. Is the DCC-1 useful for commercial environmental control?
Yes. It can provide more precise control logic in installations where equipment such as ventilation influences multiple environmental parameters and simple single-condition switching is not sufficient. Does the DCC-1 measure temperature, humidity or CO2 itself?
No. The DCC-1 does not replace the Hydro-X environmental sensors. It uses the control conditions generated by the Hydro-X system to determine when the connected Device Station should operate.

Unit price perThe TrolMaster BETA-6 is a stand-alone 240V digital humidity controller designed to automatically operate a compatible humidifier or dehumidifier while providing separate humidity settings for day and night conditions.
Designed for straightforward environmental humidity management, the BETA-6 combines a digital controller, remote humidity sensor, automatic day/night detection and switched equipment output in one compact system.
Simply connect a suitable humidifier or dehumidifier to the controller, position the remote sensor within the growing environment and select the required humidity settings. The BETA-6 then automatically switches the connected equipment to maintain the selected relative humidity.
Separate day and night humidity targets can be programmed from 20-90% RH. The controller automatically changes between these settings according to the light condition detected by its photocell, making it particularly useful where humidity requirements or environmental behaviour differ between illuminated and dark periods.
Why choose the TrolMaster BETA-6?
Automatic humidifier & dehumidifier control
The BETA-6 can be configured according to whether the connected equipment is intended to add or remove moisture from the air.
Humidifying mode
When used with a compatible humidifier, the BETA-6 monitors the surrounding relative humidity and switches the equipment on when additional moisture is required.
Once humidity has risen sufficiently relative to the programmed target and controller deadband, the humidifier is switched off again.
Dehumidifying mode
When used with a compatible dehumidifier, the control logic is reversed. The BETA-6 activates the equipment when relative humidity rises above the required level and switches it off again once humidity has been reduced.
This dual functionality means the same controller can be used for either humidification or dehumidification applications.
Independent day & night humidity settings
Humidity behaviour often changes substantially between the illuminated and dark periods. As air temperature falls after the lighting period ends, relative humidity can increase rapidly, even without a major increase in the actual amount of moisture present in the air.
The BETA-6 allows separate humidity targets to be programmed for the day and night periods, giving the controller greater flexibility than a conventional single-setpoint humidistat.
Its photocell automatically identifies the light condition and selects the corresponding humidity setting. There is no need to manually change the controller twice a day or synchronise it with a separate timer.
16ft remote humidity sensor
The BETA-6 is supplied with a precision remote humidity sensor on a 16ft cable. This allows the sensing point to be positioned where environmental conditions are representative of the crop rather than immediately beside the controller.
Correct sensor positioning is important. Place it in a well-ventilated location around crop level while avoiding direct airflow from humidifiers, dehumidifiers, heaters, circulation fans, intake points or extraction systems.
The sensor should also be kept away from wet surfaces, direct spray and areas where condensation can form.
Stable control with a 5% RH deadband
The BETA-6 uses a 5% relative-humidity deadband around its control point. Deadband is important because environmental humidity naturally fluctuates and equipment should not repeatedly switch on and off every time the reading moves fractionally around the target.
By allowing a controlled differential between the switch-on and switch-off conditions, the BETA-6 provides more stable operation and helps reduce unnecessary rapid cycling of the connected equipment.
Suitable for controlled horticultural environments
The BETA-6 provides a straightforward solution wherever relative humidity needs to be automatically maintained without the complexity of a complete multi-device environmental controller.
UK 240V electrical version
This is the 240V version of the TrolMaster BETA-6 intended for UK electrical installations.
The BETA-6 uses a relay-switched output and is fitted with a 10A / 250V fuse. Always check the electrical requirements of the humidifier or dehumidifier before connecting it to the controller.
Particular care is required with dehumidifiers and other equipment containing compressors or motors. Their startup current can be considerably higher than the normal running current shown on the rating plate.
Equipment must remain within the controller's permitted electrical load. Where a device has a high starting current or exceeds the controller's switching capability, an appropriately rated external switching solution should be used instead.

Unit price perThe Krystal Dual Fan Speed Controller is a thermostatic ventilation controller designed to manage an intake fan and extraction fan together, automatically adjusting ventilation according to the measured temperature.
With two independently adjustable fan-speed controls, the Krystal controller allows the balance between intake and extraction airflow to be set while its remote temperature sensor monitors the environment. Set the required target temperature and the controller automatically manages the connected fans to help maintain a more stable environment.
Two UK power outlets are built directly into the controller, providing dedicated connections for the intake and extraction fans. Each outlet can control a compatible fan with a maximum power of 320W.
A digital temperature display and LED indicators provide an immediate view of target and current temperatures, making the Krystal Dual Fan Speed Controller a straightforward solution for automated ventilation without the complexity of a larger environmental-control system.
Why choose the Krystal Dual Fan Speed Controller?
Automatic temperature-based ventilation
Temperature can change substantially as lighting, external weather and other environmental conditions change. A ventilation system running at one fixed speed cannot respond automatically to those variations.
The Krystal Dual Fan Speed Controller uses its temperature sensor to continuously monitor the environment. Once the required target temperature has been selected, the controller adjusts the connected fans accordingly.
This allows ventilation to respond to environmental demand rather than requiring repeated manual adjustment of the fans.
The result is a more controlled approach to air exchange, particularly where extraction is the primary method used to remove excess heat.
Control intake & extraction together
The controller provides two mains power outlets, allowing both sides of a balanced ventilation system to be managed from the same unit.
Extraction fan
The extraction fan removes warm air from the controlled environment and provides the primary air exchange.
Intake fan
The intake fan supplies replacement air as the extraction system removes air from the environment.
Using both fans through one controller allows their operation to be coordinated while still giving the user control over the balance between intake and extraction airflow.
Adjustable airflow & negative pressure
Intake and extraction systems do not necessarily need to operate at identical airflow rates. In many filtered extraction systems, slightly greater extraction than intake is desirable to maintain negative pressure.
The Krystal controller provides separate adjustment for the two connected fans, allowing the intake/extraction balance to be tuned for the installation.
Actual pressure balance will depend on the fans themselves as well as carbon filters, duct length, bends, intake restrictions and other components in the ventilation system.
Fan-speed settings should therefore be adjusted according to the behaviour of the complete installed system rather than simply setting both controls to identical positions.
Reduce unnecessary ventilation noise
A ventilation fan normally produces more motor and airflow noise as its speed increases. Running both intake and extraction fans at maximum output continuously can therefore create considerably more noise than necessary.
By allowing fan speeds to be adjusted and ventilation to respond to temperature, the Krystal controller can help avoid unnecessarily high airflow when environmental demand is lower.
For further noise reduction, combine correctly controlled fan speeds with appropriately sized ducting, smooth airflow routes, vibration isolation and acoustic ducting where required.
Temperature sensor for accurate control
The supplied temperature sensor should be positioned in a representative part of the controlled environment so the controller receives a useful indication of the temperature experienced by the crop.
Avoid positioning the sensor directly beside heaters, lighting equipment, air intakes or extraction points, as these can produce localised temperatures that do not represent the wider environment.
Keeping the sensor away from direct radiant heat and strong airflow will generally provide a more representative measurement for automatic fan control.
Fan compatibility
The Krystal Dual Fan Speed Controller is intended for compatible mains-powered AC ventilation fans that can be controlled using this type of fan-speed controller.
Each outlet supports a fan with a maximum specified power of 320W. Always check the fan manufacturer's electrical and speed-control requirements before connecting equipment.
This is not an EC signal controller. EC fans that require a dedicated 0-10V, PWM, digital or manufacturer-specific low-voltage control signal should be used with the appropriate EC fan controller instead.
Setting up the Krystal Dual Fan Speed Controller
Fans should remain within the controller's specified electrical rating, and the ventilation system should be correctly sized for the environment being controlled.

Krystal Dual Fan Speed Controller FAQs
What does the Krystal Dual Fan Speed Controller do?
It controls an intake fan and extraction fan from one unit, using a temperature sensor and adjustable fan-speed controls to help maintain the selected environmental temperature. How many fans can the Krystal controller operate?
The controller has two power outlets, allowing one compatible intake fan and one compatible extraction fan to be connected. What is the maximum fan power?
Each of the two fan outlets can control a compatible fan with a maximum power of 320W. Does the Krystal controller automatically respond to temperature?
Yes. Set the required target temperature and the controller uses its supplied temperature sensor to adjust ventilation accordingly. Can I adjust the intake and extraction fans separately?
Yes. The intake and extraction fan speeds can be adjusted to establish the required balance between incoming and outgoing airflow. Can the Krystal controller help maintain negative pressure?
Yes. By setting the extraction airflow higher than the intake airflow, the controller can be used as part of a ventilation system designed to maintain negative pressure. The actual pressure achieved will depend on the complete installation. Does the controller include a temperature sensor?
Yes. A temperature sensor is included so the controller can monitor the environment and adjust fan operation in response to temperature. Does it display the current temperature?
Yes. The controller features a digital display and LED indicators for monitoring target and current temperature information. Can I use only an extraction fan?
The controller is designed around dual-fan control, but the ventilation requirements of the installation determine whether active intake is necessary. Where only one fan is connected, always ensure the equipment and controller are being used appropriately. Will controlling fan speed reduce noise?
Reducing unnecessary fan speed can reduce motor and airflow noise. Overall noise will also depend on the fans, ducting, filters, vibration and airflow restrictions. Can I use the Krystal controller with a carbon-filter extraction system?
Yes. It can control compatible extraction and intake fans used within a filtered ventilation system, provided the fans are suitable for speed control and remain within the controller's electrical rating. Can this controller operate EC fans?
This controller is intended for compatible mains-powered AC fans. EC fans requiring 0-10V, PWM or another dedicated low-voltage speed-control signal should use the appropriate EC controller specified for the fan. Where should I place the temperature sensor?
Place the sensor in a representative area away from direct heat sources, strong intake or extraction airflow and other localised conditions that could distort the temperature reading. Why control both intake and extraction fans?
Controlling both fans allows total ventilation and the balance between incoming and outgoing air to be adjusted together. This can provide more stable temperature and pressure control than operating two fans independently. How many Krystal Dual Fan Speed Controllers are in an outer case?
The outer case quantity for this SKU is 16 controllers.
