The Bluelab Combo Meter with Leap pH Probe gives growers a practical way to monitor three of the most important growing parameters from one portable meter. Measure pH directly in soil and growing media with the reinforced Leap probe, while the separate conductivity and temperature probe measures nutrient strength and solution temperature.

Unlike a conventional glass pH probe intended primarily for liquids, the Bluelab Leap pH Probe features a reinforced spear tip designed for direct root-zone measurements. It can be used in soil, coco coir, stone wool, potting mixes and other substrates, as well as nutrient solutions.

The meter also measures conductivity in EC, CF, ppm 500 or ppm 700 and temperature in °C or °F. Automatic temperature compensation and a clear backlit display make it a versatile option for routine crop monitoring across hydroponic, substrate and soil-based growing systems.

What can the Bluelab Combo Meter with Leap Probe measure?

The Combo Meter measures pH, conductivity and temperature. The Leap pH Probe is designed for pH measurements directly in the root zone and can also be submerged in nutrient solution.

Conductivity and temperature are measured using the separate conductivity/temperature probe. This makes it possible to monitor nutrient solution strength and temperature alongside root-zone or solution pH using the same handheld meter.

Which growing media can the Leap pH Probe be used in?

The reinforced Bluelab Leap pH Probe is suitable for direct pH measurements in soil, coco coir blends, stone wool, potting mixes and other suitable substrates. It can also be used for pH testing in nutrient solutions.

This makes the Combo Meter with Leap pH Probe particularly useful for growers who want to investigate conditions around the root zone rather than relying solely on reservoir or runoff measurements.

How to use the Bluelab Combo Meter with Leap pH Probe

Before first use, connect the Leap pH Probe to the meter using its BNC connection. Precondition the probe by inserting the tip several times into substrate and then rinsing it before completing the required pH calibration.

For direct substrate measurements, the growing media should contain sufficient moisture for a reliable reading. Create an insertion hole with the supplied dibber where required, then carefully insert the Leap probe so the sensing area makes good contact with the root-zone media. Switch the meter on and allow the pH reading to stabilise.

To measure nutrient solution conductivity and temperature, place the conductivity/temperature probe into the solution and allow the displayed measurement to stabilise. Conductivity can be displayed as EC, CF, ppm 500 or ppm 700.

Rinse the probes with fresh tap water after use. Keep the Leap pH Probe stored in its cap with sufficient Bluelab KCl Storage Solution to keep the sensor hydrated.
