The TrolMaster LMA-11 Lighting Control Adapter P is designed to connect compatible Phantom lighting ballasts to the TrolMaster Hydro-X environmental control system, allowing centralised lighting control from the Hydro-X controller.
The LMA-11 acts as the communication interface between the TrolMaster controller and compatible Phantom ballasts. Once installed, the Hydro-X can manage the lighting system's operating schedule and compatible output settings without having to switch the full mains load of the lighting equipment through the controller itself.
This makes the LMA-11 particularly useful in larger controlled-environment installations where several compatible Phantom ballasts need to operate together from one central lighting-control system.
The LMA-11 is a model-specific lighting adapter. It should only be specified for compatible Phantom lighting equipment using the appropriate control interface, rather than being treated as a universal ballast or LED controller.
Individually controlling a large number of lighting ballasts can quickly become impractical. The LMA-11 allows compatible Phantom ballasts to become part of the TrolMaster lighting-control network so that lighting operation can be managed centrally.
The TrolMaster controller determines when the lighting system should operate and sends the appropriate control signal through the LMA-11 to the compatible ballasts.
This provides a cleaner approach to lighting automation while allowing the ballasts to retain their normal electrical supply.
Where supported by the connected Phantom ballast, the LMA-11 allows compatible lighting output settings to be controlled through the TrolMaster system.
Central output control is useful where light intensity needs to be adjusted as the crop develops or where a large bank of fixtures needs to operate consistently at the same setting.
Actual available output levels depend on the compatible ballast being controlled, so the ballast manufacturer's specifications should always be checked when designing the lighting system.
The LMA-11 sits between the compatible TrolMaster controller and the Phantom ballast control network. It converts the lighting-control command from the TrolMaster system into the appropriate signal required by the compatible ballast.
The LMA-11 does not supply mains power to the ballast. The ballast and lighting equipment remain connected to their normal electrical supply, while the LMA-11 handles the low-voltage control communication.
Where several compatible ballasts are linked together, follow the lighting manufacturer's instructions for control cabling, daisy-chaining and maximum supported ballast quantities.
TrolMaster manufactures a range of LMA lighting adapters because different ballast and lighting manufacturers use different control protocols.
The LMA-11 is the "P" lighting adapter intended for compatible Phantom ballasts. It should not be assumed to work with another brand simply because that ballast is externally controllable or dimmable.
Always confirm the exact ballast model and its compatibility with the LMA-11 before installation. Other lighting brands and control protocols may require a different TrolMaster LMA adapter.

The LMA-11 provides the control interface required to connect compatible Phantom ballasts to a TrolMaster lighting-control system.
The P designation identifies the LMA-11 as the TrolMaster lighting adapter intended for compatible Phantom ballast systems.
It is designed for compatible Phantom lighting ballasts. Exact ballast-model compatibility should be confirmed before installation.
Yes. Once correctly integrated, compatible lighting can follow the lighting schedules programmed into the TrolMaster control system.
Yes, where the connected Phantom ballast supports compatible external output control. The available settings depend on the specific ballast model.
No. Externally controlled ballasts can use different communication methods. The LMA-11 is intended specifically for compatible Phantom equipment.
Only if the exact lighting equipment is specifically listed as compatible with the LMA-11 control interface. TrolMaster offers other LMA adapters for different LED and ballast control protocols.
No. It is a low-voltage control adapter. The ballast remains connected to its normal mains electrical supply.
No. The LMA-11 communicates with the ballast's compatible control interface and does not carry or switch the main electrical load of the lighting equipment.
Compatible ballasts can be linked as part of a lighting-control network where supported by the equipment. Follow the ballast manufacturer's requirements for control cabling and maximum connected quantities.
Lighting manufacturers use different control protocols and connections. TrolMaster therefore produces different LMA models to provide the appropriate interface for compatible lighting systems.
Check the exact manufacturer and model of the ballast being controlled. If it is a Phantom ballast supported by TrolMaster's LMA-11 interface, the LMA-11 is the appropriate control adapter.
Yes. Centralised control is particularly useful where multiple compatible ballasts need to follow the same lighting schedule and output settings without being adjusted individually.
