Ecothrive Neutralise 1L is a highly concentrated water conditioner designed to rapidly neutralise chlorine and chloramine in tap water before irrigation. Ideal for living soil and biologically active growing systems, Neutralise helps protect beneficial microorganisms by removing residual disinfectants before treated mains water reaches the root zone.
Chlorine and chloramine are routinely used by water suppliers to control microorganisms within mains water. While this is important for drinking-water hygiene, the same antimicrobial action is not necessarily desirable when growers are deliberately maintaining populations of beneficial bacteria and fungi.
Neutralise provides a simple and economical solution. Add a very small quantity to tap water and it rapidly dechlorinates the water, allowing it to be used immediately without leaving reservoirs standing for extended periods.
This is particularly valuable for living soil, organic cultivation and microbial growing programmes, but Neutralise can also be used to condition source water for coco and hydroponic systems.
At the standard application rate of 1ml per 20 litres of water, the 1L bottle can treat approximately 20,000 litres of tap water.
Chlorine is used in mains water because it is an effective disinfectant. Its purpose is to control microorganisms as water travels through the distribution network.
In living soil and biologically active growing systems, however, growers are deliberately encouraging microorganisms within the root zone.
Beneficial bacteria, fungi and other organisms contribute to decomposition, nutrient cycling and the conversion of organic materials into forms that plants can access.
Conditioning chlorinated tap water before irrigation therefore removes an unnecessary source of antimicrobial activity before the water reaches the growing medium.
Leaving tap water standing has traditionally been used by growers as a simple way of reducing free chlorine.
The limitation is chloramine. Chloramine is considerably more persistent in water and does not dissipate as readily as free chlorine.
This means that filling a reservoir and leaving it overnight is not a reliable method of dealing with all disinfectants that may be present in mains water.
Ecothrive Neutralise is designed to neutralise both chlorine and chloramine, providing a straightforward method of conditioning source water before irrigation.
A productive living soil contains a complex biological community working around plant roots and throughout the growing medium.
These organisms help break down organic matter, cycle nutrients and support the processes that make biologically active cultivation possible.
Neutralise allows growers to condition mains water before irrigation so chlorine and chloramine are neutralised before the water reaches this microbial ecosystem.
It is particularly useful when using beneficial bacteria, fungi, microbial inoculants, compost extracts and other biological root-zone products.
Dechlorinated water is particularly important when preparing concentrated microbial inoculants such as Ecothrive Biosys.
When using mains water, Neutralise should be added first so chlorine and chloramine are neutralised before beneficial microorganisms are introduced.
The same principle applies to other microbial inoculants, compost extracts and biological root-zone products. Treating the source water first helps avoid exposing newly introduced microorganisms directly to residual disinfectants.
Use 1ml of Ecothrive Neutralise per 20 litres of tap water, equivalent to 0.05ml/L.
Add Neutralise directly to the source water and mix thoroughly. The product acts rapidly, so there is no requirement to leave the treated water standing before use.
When preparing a nutrient or microbial solution, add Neutralise to the water first. Once the water has been conditioned, add nutrients, supplements and biological products in their normal mixing sequence.
At the standard application rate of 1ml per 20L:
The very low application rate makes the 1L size particularly economical for growers preparing substantial quantities of irrigation water.
A 1L bottle of Ecothrive Neutralise can condition approximately 20,000 litres of tap water at the standard application rate.
That is equivalent to approximately:
This makes the 1L format particularly suitable for larger living soil systems, regular irrigation preparation and growers working with medium to large reservoirs.
Neutralise is especially valuable in living soil, where beneficial microorganisms are central to decomposition, nutrient cycling and root-zone function.
Condition tap water before applying microbial inoculants, biological amendments, compost extracts and other biologically active inputs.
Neutralise can be used to condition mains water before preparing coco nutrient solutions, particularly where microbial additives form part of the growing programme.
Growers using tap water can condition their source water before preparing a hydroponic nutrient reservoir.
Neutralise can also be used when preparing irrigation water for seedlings, cuttings and young plants, especially where beneficial microbial products are being used.
Ecothrive Neutralise is specifically designed to deal with chlorine and chloramine. It should not be confused with a reverse-osmosis system or complete water purification treatment.
Neutralise does not remove the calcium, magnesium and other dissolved minerals responsible for water hardness or background EC.
Where the objective is specifically to condition mains water for living soil, microbial products or irrigation, Neutralise provides a simple alternative to processing the entire water supply through specialist filtration equipment.

Ecothrive Neutralise rapidly conditions tap water by neutralising chlorine and chloramine before the water is used for irrigation or with biological growing products.
Yes. Neutralise is designed for both chlorine and chloramine, making it more reliable than simply leaving tap water standing to allow free chlorine to dissipate.
Use 1ml per 20 litres of tap water. Add Neutralise to the source water first and mix before adding microbial products or preparing the rest of the growing solution.
At the standard rate of 1ml per 20L, a 1L bottle can treat approximately 20,000 litres of tap water.
Living soil relies on beneficial microorganisms. Because chlorine and chloramine are disinfectants, neutralising them before irrigation helps avoid unnecessarily exposing the soil's biological community to antimicrobial compounds.
Standing water can help free chlorine dissipate, but chloramine is much more persistent. Neutralise provides a direct method of dealing with both chlorine and chloramine.
Yes. Dechlorinated water is recommended when preparing microbial products such as Ecothrive Biosys. Treat the tap water first, then add the microbial product.
Add Neutralise to the source water first. Once the water has been conditioned, nutrients, supplements and biological products can be added in their normal mixing sequence.
Yes. It can be used to condition chlorinated mains water before preparing irrigation or nutrient solutions for coco-grown plants.
Yes. Neutralise can be used to condition mains water before preparing a hydroponic nutrient reservoir.
No. Neutralise targets chlorine and chloramine. It does not remove the dissolved calcium, magnesium and other minerals responsible for water hardness and background EC.
No. Reverse osmosis removes a broad range of dissolved substances from water. Neutralise has the much more specific purpose of neutralising chlorine and chloramine.
Yes. The 1L format treats approximately 20,000L of water, making it practical for larger reservoirs, frequent irrigation preparation and professional growing environments.
The 1L size combines substantial treatment capacity with a manageable container size. It is particularly useful for regular growers who prepare hundreds or thousands of litres of irrigation water over a crop cycle.
