The Pipeline Flexible Rain Barrel 225L is a collapsible water butt designed for collecting and storing rainwater for gardens, allotments and growing areas. With a useful 225 litre capacity, flexible cylindrical construction and compact storage when empty, it provides a practical alternative to a conventional rigid water butt.
The 225L capacity offers an excellent balance between useful water storage and manageable size. It provides considerably more capacity than a small rain barrel without requiring the space associated with the largest water storage tanks.
Supported by vertical poles when assembled, the flexible tank creates a convenient rainwater storage point during the growing season. When it is no longer required, it can be drained, dismantled and packed away for easier seasonal storage.
A 225 litre water butt provides enough capacity to build up a useful reserve during periods of rainfall while remaining suitable for gardens where a very large tank would be unnecessary.
Stored rainwater can be used for suitable watering applications around beds, borders, pots, planters and other planted areas. During warmer weather, having a reserve available can be particularly useful when plants require more frequent watering.
The 225L size is a versatile middle-ground option for customers who have outgrown a small water butt but do not need the capacity or footprint of a 400L or 750L tank.
| Gardens | Collect rainwater for watering beds, borders and other planted areas during drier periods. |
|---|---|
| Allotments | Build up an additional water reserve for crops and plants throughout the growing season. |
| Pots & planters | Provides stored water for regular watering of container-grown plants. |
| Growing areas | Useful supplementary water storage for routine plant care and compatible watering equipment. |
| Seasonal use | Suitable where additional water storage is useful during the growing season but a permanent rigid tank is not wanted. |
One of the key advantages of the Pipeline Flexible Rain Barrel is that it does not have to occupy its full footprint throughout the year. A traditional rigid water butt remains the same size whether it is full, empty or no longer required.
The Pipeline design uses a flexible tank body with vertical supports to create its cylindrical shape during use. Once empty, the structure can be dismantled and the flexible body packed down for more convenient storage.
This makes it particularly useful for seasonal growing areas, allotments and gardens where available space changes throughout the year.
Rainwater collected from suitable roof and guttering systems can provide a useful supplementary source of water for the garden. Rather than allowing all rainfall to flow directly into the drainage system, a suitable rainwater collection arrangement can divert it into the Pipeline tank.
The 225 litre capacity allows a worthwhile quantity of water to be stored during wet weather and retained ready for the next dry period.
For customers watering numerous containers, beds or productive growing areas, this additional reserve can make routine garden watering more convenient.
Position the tank on a firm, stable and level surface before filling. Clear the installation area of sharp stones, protrusions and other objects that could damage the flexible base.
Assemble the tank and vertical support structure according to the supplied instructions. If collecting water from roof guttering, use a suitable rainwater diverter or collection arrangement for the individual downpipe system.
Select the final location before filling. A full 225 litre tank contains a considerable weight of water, so it should be drained before being repositioned or dismantled.
The Pipeline Flexible Rain Barrel features an integrated outlet towards the bottom of the tank, allowing collected water to be accessed conveniently when required.
This arrangement is useful for transferring water for garden use without repeatedly opening the tank from the top. Stored water can then be used with suitable watering equipment depending on the individual setup.
External graduated markings also provide a quick visual reference for monitoring the approximate amount of water remaining in the tank.
Keep the rain barrel and any connected collection system reasonably clear of leaves and other debris. Periodically check the inlet and lower outlet to help maintain reliable water flow.
When the tank is no longer required, drain the remaining water and allow the flexible body to dry before dismantling it. Store the tank and support components in a clean, dry location away from sharp objects.
Because the tank packs down when empty, it is particularly convenient where storage space is limited during the quieter months of the year.
