The 1m x 1m Square Plastic Garden Tray provides a large, contained area for grouping pots, planters and propagation trays while helping to control water and keep growing areas tidy. With no drainage holes, it can be used as a large drip tray or for bottom watering suitable container-grown plants.
Its generous 100cm x 100cm footprint makes it particularly useful where several pots need to be managed together. Rather than placing individual saucers beneath multiple containers, the entire group can be positioned within one large tray.
The tray can be used in greenhouses, nurseries, propagation areas and other horticultural growing spaces. It is also useful beneath groups of pots where catching irrigation run-off and protecting the surrounding growing area are the main priorities.
Because the tray is manufactured without drainage holes, it can be used for bottom watering suitable container-grown plants. Water is added to the tray and taken up through drainage holes in the individual plant pots.
Bottom watering can be particularly convenient where several plants need to be watered together. Instead of applying water separately to the surface of every pot, compatible containers can be grouped within the tray and allowed to absorb water from below.
The amount of water and the length of time pots are left standing in it should always be appropriate for the crop, container and growing medium. Excess water should not be left around plants that require free-draining conditions.
The tray is equally useful where its primary purpose is simply to catch drainage from pots. Water draining from several containers can be retained within the tray rather than spreading immediately across the surrounding floor or growing surface.
This makes a large tray particularly useful beneath groups of plants that are regularly hand watered. It can also make the growing area easier to organise by defining a clear space for container-grown plants and their associated irrigation run-off.
With a full square metre of tray area, this is a useful general-purpose piece of growing equipment for both professional and domestic horticulture.
