Unit price perThe Adjust-A-Wings Hellion 630W 4200K DE CMH Lamp is a professional double-ended ceramic metal halide lamp delivering approximately 1210µmol/s of broad-spectrum plant light with a high CRI of approximately 97.
Developed specifically for high-performance plant lighting, the 4200K version produces a broad, daylight-style spectrum with a substantial blue component alongside useful red and far-red wavelengths. This makes it particularly well suited to propagation, vegetative development, mother plants and mixed-spectrum lighting installations.
Unlike conventional HPS lighting, CMH technology produces a much broader spectral distribution. Adjust-A-Wings developed its DE-CMH lamps using Japanese ceramic arc-tube technology to provide high output, excellent colour quality and a spectrum designed specifically around plant development.
This is a 630W double-ended CMH lamp and requires a compatible 630W DE-CMH fixture and suitable low-frequency electronic control gear. It is not interchangeable with standard HPS, metal halide or E40 lamps simply because they share a similar wattage.
Why choose the Adjust-A-Wings 630W 4200K DE-CMH Lamp?
4200K broad-spectrum CMH lighting
The 4200K version of the Adjust-A-Wings 630W DE-CMH is designed around a cooler, daylight-style spectrum with considerably more blue light than a conventional HPS lamp.
This makes it particularly useful during propagation and vegetative development, where strong blue-spectrum availability can support compact, controlled plant structure and vigorous foliage development.
The output is not limited to blue wavelengths. CMH technology provides a broad spectral distribution extending across the visible spectrum and into useful UV and far-red regions, producing a much more balanced light profile than conventional sodium lighting.
Approximately 1210µmol/s photon output
The 4200K Adjust-A-Wings 630W DE-CMH produces approximately 1210µmol/s of photosynthetic photon flux, equivalent to an efficacy of approximately 1.92µmol/J.
PPF measures the total quantity of photosynthetically active photons produced by the lamp each second. For plant lighting, this provides a more meaningful indication of output than lumens, which are weighted according to human vision.
The amount of light ultimately reaching the crop as PPFD will depend on the reflector, fixture geometry, mounting height, spacing and overall lighting layout.
High CRI broad-spectrum output
With a colour rendering index of approximately CRI 97, the 4200K DE-CMH provides a much broader visible spectrum than traditional HPS lighting.
Plants under the lamp therefore appear considerably more natural in colour, making visual inspection easier while also reflecting the broader spectral distribution produced by the ceramic metal halide arc tube.
CRI itself is a human-vision measurement rather than a measure of plant-light efficiency, so it should be considered alongside PPF, spectrum and crop requirements rather than used as a standalone horticultural performance figure.
Ideal for mixed-spectrum lighting
Adjust-A-Wings specifically positions its 4200K DE-CMH technology as a strong partner for DE-HPS lighting in mixed-spectrum installations.
HPS provides powerful yellow, orange and red output, while the 4200K CMH contributes substantially more blue alongside its broader spectrum. Combining the technologies can therefore create a more balanced overall spectral profile than either source provides alone.
The lamp can also be used independently where its cooler broad-spectrum output is appropriate for the crop and lighting strategy.
Requires dedicated 630W DE-CMH control gear
The Adjust-A-Wings 630W DE-CMH is a specialist discharge lamp and must be operated with compatible 630W DE-CMH control gear.
Adjust-A-Wings developed dedicated low-frequency square-wave electronic control gear for its 630W CMH system. Correct ballast matching is important for lamp starting, stable operation, spectral performance and service life.
Do not connect the lamp directly to the mains and do not assume that a 600W, 630W or adjustable HPS ballast is suitable. Only use control gear specifically approved for the lamp type.
Lamp life & output maintenance
Adjust-A-Wings recommends replacing its 630W DE-CMH lamps according to accumulated operating time and lighting performance rather than waiting for complete lamp failure.
For installations operating around 18 hours per day, the manufacturer recommends replacement approximately every 12-18 months. Lamp output gradually declines with operating hours even though the lamp may continue to illuminate normally.
When commissioning a new lamp, Adjust-A-Wings recommends operating it at full rated power for its first 24 hours to season the lamp before using any compatible dimming function.

Adjust-A-Wings 630W 4200K DE-CMH FAQs
What is the difference between CMH and HPS lighting?
CMH produces a much broader spectrum with substantially more blue light and excellent colour rendering. HPS is more heavily weighted towards yellow, orange and red wavelengths. Both technologies can be useful independently or together depending on the lighting strategy. What does 4200K mean?
4200K describes the lamp's colour temperature. It produces a cooler, daylight-style appearance with a strong blue component, making this version particularly useful for vegetative development and supplementary lighting. What is the PPF of the 630W 4200K lamp?
The 4200K version produces approximately 1210µmol/s of photosynthetic photon flux at its rated 630W output. Can the 4200K CMH lamp be used for flowering?
Yes. Its broad spectrum can support full-cycle plant development, although the 4200K version has a stronger blue component and is particularly well suited to vegetative or mixed-spectrum applications. Can it be combined with HPS lighting?
Yes. Adjust-A-Wings specifically promotes combining DE-CMH and DE-HPS systems where a broader mixed spectrum is required. The CMH contributes blue and broad-spectrum light while HPS provides strong yellow, orange and red output. Does this lamp use an E40 screw fitting?
No. This is the 630W double-ended version and requires a compatible DE-CMH fixture. It should not be confused with single-ended CMH lamps that use an E40-style base. Can I use a standard HPS ballast?
No. The lamp requires compatible control gear specifically designed for 630W DE-CMH operation. Correct ballast matching is essential for reliable lamp operation and lifespan. Why does the lamp have such a high CRI?
CMH technology produces a broad visible spectrum, giving the 4200K lamp a CRI of approximately 97. This produces a more natural-looking light than conventional HPS and makes visual crop inspection easier. How often should a 630W DE-CMH lamp be replaced?
Adjust-A-Wings recommends changing its CMH and DE-CMH lamps approximately every 12-18 months when operated for around 18 hours per day. Replacement timing should also take measured light output and operating hours into account. Should a new CMH lamp be run at full power first?
Yes. Adjust-A-Wings recommends running a new lamp at its full rated output for the first 24 hours to season it before using compatible dimming settings. Is this lamp suitable as a direct replacement for a 600W HPS lamp?
Not as a simple lamp swap. The 630W DE-CMH requires its own compatible fixture and CMH control gear, so ballast and lamp-holder compatibility must be checked before changing lighting technology. How should a used CMH lamp be disposed of?
Discharge lamps should be handled through an appropriate lamp recycling or WEEE waste route rather than being placed in general waste.

Unit price perThe Adjust-A-Wings Hellion 630W 3100K DE CMH Lamp is a high-output double-ended ceramic metal halide lamp producing approximately 1200µmol/s PPF from a broad, warm full spectrum designed for complete plant development and particularly strong flowering performance.
The 3100K, or 3.1K, version combines the broad spectral characteristics of ceramic metal halide technology with a warmer output than the 4200K version. This gives the lamp a strong balance of wavelengths across the plant-active spectrum while increasing its suitability for flowering and fruiting crops.
Adjust-A-Wings developed the Hellion CMH range around purpose-designed Japanese ceramic arc tubes rather than adapting a general-purpose lamp. The result is a specialist plant-lighting lamp designed to work as part of the Hellion 630W DE-CMH system.
This is a double-ended 630W CMH lamp. It requires a compatible DE-CMH fixture and correctly matched low-frequency electronic ballast and must not be connected directly to the mains supply.
Why choose the Adjust-A-Wings 630W 3100K DE-CMH Lamp?
3100K spectrum for full-cycle plant development
The 3100K Hellion DE-CMH produces a warm broad-spectrum output rather than the heavily yellow and orange-biased spectrum associated with conventional HPS lighting.
It retains useful blue light for vegetative development while providing a stronger warm and red component than the 4200K Hellion CMH. This makes the 3100K version particularly versatile where one CMH spectrum is required throughout the complete crop cycle.
Adjust-A-Wings specifically describes its 3K lamps as strong standalone choices for all stages of growth, with particular suitability for flowering.
3100K or 4200K CMH?
Both versions use the same fundamental 630W double-ended CMH technology, but their spectral emphasis is different.
| 3100K / 3.1K | Warmer full spectrum. Excellent standalone option for full-cycle use and particularly well suited to flowering and fruiting. |
|---|---|
| 4200K / 4.2K | Cooler spectrum with additional blue. Particularly useful for vegetative development and supplementing warmer HPS lighting. |
For an installation using CMH as the principal light source throughout the crop cycle, the 3100K version is the more flowering-focused of the two spectrum options.
1200µmol/s photosynthetic photon flux
The Hellion 630W 3100K DE-CMH is rated at approximately 1200µmol/s PPF, with a photon efficacy of approximately 1.91µmol/J.
PPF measures the number of photons within the photosynthetically active range emitted by the lamp every second. It is therefore considerably more relevant to plant-lighting performance than a conventional lumen figure alone.
The actual photon density reaching the crop will depend on the reflector, mounting height, fixture spacing and overall lighting layout.
Why use ceramic metal halide?
CMH uses a ceramic arc tube to produce a broad and relatively continuous spectrum. This differs significantly from conventional HPS technology, which concentrates a much greater proportion of its output into yellow, orange and red wavelengths.
The broader output makes CMH particularly attractive where spectral quality is important as well as raw photon output. It also allows the 3100K Hellion lamp to support both vegetative and reproductive stages without changing lamp technology between crop stages.
CMH & HPS mixed-spectrum lighting
The 630W Hellion DE-CMH can also be incorporated alongside DE-HPS fixtures to create a mixed-spectrum installation.
CMH contributes a much broader range of wavelengths, including substantially more blue, while HPS contributes intense yellow, orange and red output. Combining the technologies allows professional lighting layouts to exploit the different spectral characteristics of both lamp types.
The comparable output of the Hellion 630W DE-CMH and higher-output DE-HPS systems makes the combination particularly useful where alternating lighting layouts are being designed.
Dedicated 630W DE-CMH lamp format
This lamp uses a K12x30s double-ended base and is designed for an appropriately rated double-ended lamp holder. Its specified operating position is horizontal within approximately ±15°.
The lamp must be installed in a compatible fixture and operated using correctly matched 630W DE-CMH control gear.
Do not attempt to fit the lamp into conventional single-ended E40 equipment. The double-ended 630W lamp and the smaller Adjust-A-Wings 315W single-ended CMH lamps use different connection systems.
Requires compatible low-frequency CMH control gear
The Hellion 630W DE-CMH was designed to operate with specialist low-frequency square-wave electronic control gear.
Correct ballast matching is important for reliable ignition, stable lamp operation, spectral performance and lamp life. A ballast should therefore be specifically approved for 630W DE-CMH operation.
Do not assume that a conventional 600W HPS ballast, 630W-rated ballast or adjustable HID ballast is compatible simply because its wattage is similar.
12,000-hour rated lamp life
The 630W 3100K DE-CMH has a rated average life of approximately 12,000 hours.
Adjust-A-Wings recommends changing its CMH and DE-CMH lamps approximately every 12-18 months when operated for 18 hours per day, helping maintain lighting performance rather than waiting until complete lamp failure.
A new lamp should initially be operated at its full rated output for the first 24 hours to season the lamp before any compatible dimming function is used.

Unit price perThe Adjust-A-Wings Hellion 315W 4200K SE-CMH Lamp is a high-performance single-ended ceramic metal halide lamp delivering 578µmol/s PPF from a broad daylight spectrum, with an industry-standard E40 mogul base for use in compatible 315W CMH lighting systems.
Designed specifically for plant lighting, the 4200K lamp combines strong blue-spectrum output with a broad distribution of wavelengths across the photosynthetically active range. It is particularly well suited to propagation, vegetative development and mother plants, while its broad spectrum also allows it to be used throughout the complete crop cycle.
Adjust-A-Wings developed the Hellion 315W CMH lamps around bespoke Japanese ceramic arc tubes, rather than simply adapting a general-purpose discharge lamp. An XOS borosilicate outer jacket complements the specialist arc-tube design.
The lamp produces 578µmol/s PPF at 315W with a high CRI of approximately 95, giving it a broad, natural-looking output that differs substantially from the narrower spectral profile of conventional HPS lighting.
Why choose the Adjust-A-Wings 315W 4200K CMH Lamp?
4200K daylight spectrum
The 4200K Hellion lamp has a cooler spectral balance than the 3100K version, with additional blue light that makes it particularly useful during active vegetative development.
Its spectrum is considerably broader than conventional HPS lighting, extending across blue, green and red wavelengths rather than concentrating the majority of visible output into yellow, orange and red.
Adjust-A-Wings also designed its 4K CMH spectrum with useful deep-red output, allowing the lamp to remain effective beyond vegetative growth and making it suitable for complete crop-cycle lighting.
578µmol/s PPF from 315W
The Hellion 315W 4200K lamp produces a specified 578µmol/s photosynthetic photon flux, equivalent to approximately 1.85µmol/J.
PPF measures the quantity of photosynthetically active photons produced by the lamp every second and provides a more useful measure of plant-light output than lumens alone.
Actual PPFD at crop level will depend on the reflector, mounting height, fixture spacing and lighting layout. Adjust-A-Wings designed the lamp to work particularly effectively with its Hellion ballast and Defender reflector system.
High CRI broad-spectrum light
With a specified CRI of 95, the 4200K Hellion CMH produces a much more natural-looking visible spectrum than conventional high-pressure sodium lighting.
This makes visual inspection of foliage, colour and general crop condition easier under the operating light. CRI is primarily a human colour-rendering measurement, however, so plant-light performance should be judged using spectrum, PPF and PPFD alongside CRI.
Vegetative, mother plant & full-cycle lighting
Adjust-A-Wings positions its 4K CMH lamps as particularly effective for vegetative development, while retaining sufficient spectral breadth for use throughout the plant lifecycle.
4200K or 3100K CMH?
| 4200K / 4.2K | Cooler daylight spectrum with additional blue. Particularly suited to propagation, vegetative development, mother plants and supplementing warmer HPS lighting. |
|---|---|
| 3100K / 3.1K | Warmer broad spectrum. Particularly suited to standalone full-cycle applications and flowering. |
Both versions are broad-spectrum CMH lamps and can support multiple stages of crop development. The choice is primarily about the spectral emphasis required from the lighting system.
Single-ended E40 lamp format
Unlike the larger 630W Hellion DE-CMH lamps, this 315W version uses a conventional E40 mogul screw base.
This makes the physical lamp format compatible with appropriate E40 lamp holders and reflector assemblies. However, the presence of an E40 fitting does not mean the lamp can be operated by any E40 lighting system.
The electrical control gear must be specifically compatible with 315W CMH lamp technology.
Use with compatible 315W CMH control gear
The Hellion 315W lamp is designed to work with suitable 315W CMH electronic control gear. Adjust-A-Wings developed its own Hellion ultra-high-frequency electronic ballast alongside the lamp so the two components could operate as a matched lighting system.
Do not connect the lamp directly to the mains and do not operate it from a conventional HPS or metal halide ballast unless that control gear is specifically approved for the 315W CMH lamp.
Correct ballast matching is important for reliable ignition, stable output, spectral performance and lamp life.
Lamp life & replacement
The 315W 4200K Hellion CMH has a specified rated average life of approximately 12,000 hours.
Adjust-A-Wings recommends changing its 315W and 630W CMH lamps approximately every 12-18 months when operated for 18 hours per day to maintain lighting performance.
A new CMH lamp should initially be operated at its full rated output for the first 24 hours to season the lamp before using a compatible dimming function.

Unit price perThe Adjust-A-Wings Hellion 1000W DE-CMH 4K is a high-output double-ended ceramic metal halide lamp developed to deliver an exceptionally broad, blue-rich spectrum from a powerful 1000W discharge platform.
Part of the specialist Hellion lighting range, this 4K lamp combines the high intensity associated with professional double-ended lighting with the broad spectral distribution for which ceramic metal halide technology is valued.
Its approximately 4000K colour spectrum provides a strong blue component alongside a broad distribution of visible wavelengths, making it particularly useful for vigorous vegetative development, maintaining compact plant structure and mixed-spectrum lighting strategies.
A major advantage of this specialist 1000W DE-CMH lamp is its ability to operate with the compatible 1000W Hellion electronic lighting system, allowing suitable Hellion installations to move between compatible DE-HPS and DE-CMH lamps without requiring completely separate lighting systems.
Why choose the Adjust-A-Wings 1000W DE-CMH 4K Lamp?
High-intensity 4K ceramic metal halide spectrum
Ceramic metal halide differs from conventional HPS by producing a much broader spectral distribution. Rather than concentrating most of its output into the yellow, orange and red regions, CMH provides substantially more blue light alongside a wider range of wavelengths.
The 4K spectrum is particularly useful where strong vegetative development is the priority. Increased blue content can help support compact morphology, controlled internodal development and dense vegetative growth when overall environmental conditions are correctly managed.
The broad spectrum also makes DE-CMH useful where growers want to introduce greater spectral diversity into a high-intensity lighting installation.
Ideal for mixed-spectrum lighting
Adjust-A-Wings has developed its Hellion lighting platform around the ability to use different discharge technologies strategically rather than treating every lamp as interchangeable in terms of spectrum.
DE-HPS provides particularly strong yellow, orange and red output, while DE-CMH introduces considerably more blue and a broader overall spectrum. Combining the two technologies within a larger installation can therefore provide a wider spectral profile than either lamp type alone.
This makes the 1000W 4K DE-CMH especially interesting for commercial growers operating larger multi-light installations where CMH and HPS fixtures can be arranged to provide complementary spectra across the crop.
Designed for the Hellion 1000W lighting platform
The 1000W DE-CMH lamp was developed as part of Adjust-A-Wings' Hellion professional lighting range.
One of the key benefits of this specialist lamp is the ability to use DE-CMH within a compatible 1000W Hellion installation. This gives growers greater flexibility when changing the spectral strategy of an existing lighting system.
This is a specialist HID lamp and must not be connected directly to the mains. It requires compatible control gear and a suitable double-ended lamp holder and reflector arrangement. Always confirm ballast and fixture compatibility before installation.
Where does a 4K DE-CMH lamp fit into a lighting programme?
Managing a 1000W high-intensity lamp
A 1000W discharge lamp produces substantial light and radiant heat. Correct reflector selection, lamp height, air movement and environmental control are therefore essential parts of the lighting installation.
Lamp-to-canopy distance should be determined according to reflector configuration, crop sensitivity, environmental conditions and measured light intensity rather than relying on wattage alone.
Adjust-A-Wings reflectors are specifically designed to spread light and dissipate heat efficiently, but the environmental load produced by a 1000W lamp must still be accounted for when designing the growing area.
Installation & lamp care
Double-ended HID lamps operate at high temperatures and should always be installed with the lighting system switched off and allowed to cool fully before handling.
Handle the lamp carefully and avoid unnecessary contact with the outer glass. Ensure both ends are correctly seated in the compatible DE lamp holders before operating the system.
Adjust-A-Wings recommends running a new compatible discharge lamp at its full rated power for the first 24 hours to season the lamp before using any supported dimming function.
If dimming adjustments are subsequently made through compatible Hellion control gear, allow sufficient time between adjustments in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Maintaining lighting performance
HID lamps gradually lose output during use even though they may continue to illuminate normally. Professional growers should therefore consider lamp age and operating hours when assessing lighting performance rather than waiting for complete lamp failure.
Keep records of installation dates in multi-lamp facilities so lamps can be inspected and replaced systematically. Maintaining lamps as a matched group can also help keep output more consistent across larger production areas.

Adjust-A-Wings 1000W DE-CMH 4K Lamp FAQs
What does 4K mean on this Adjust-A-Wings lamp?
4K refers to an approximately 4000K colour spectrum. It produces a comparatively blue-rich light and is particularly useful during vegetative plant development. What is DE-CMH?
DE-CMH means double-ended ceramic metal halide. It combines ceramic metal halide lamp technology with a double-ended lamp format designed for compatible high-intensity lighting equipment. Is this the same as a 1000W HPS lamp?
No. Although both are high-intensity discharge technologies, CMH and HPS have distinctly different spectral characteristics. The 4K CMH lamp provides substantially more blue light and a broader overall spectrum. Can the 4K lamp be used for vegetative growth?
Yes. Vegetative production is one of the main applications for the blue-rich 4K spectrum, particularly where compact and vigorous plant development is required. Can I combine this lamp with DE-HPS lighting?
Yes. Mixed-spectrum installations are one of the useful applications of DE-CMH. The broader, blue-rich CMH spectrum can complement the warmer yellow, orange and red-rich output associated with DE-HPS. Can this lamp be plugged directly into the mains?
No. This is a specialist HID lamp and requires compatible electronic control gear, DE lamp holders and a suitable reflector or lighting fixture. Will it work with any 1000W ballast?
Do not assume that wattage alone determines compatibility. The ballast must be suitable for the specific lamp technology and operating requirements. Confirm compatibility before installing the lamp. Do I need to season a new lamp?
Adjust-A-Wings recommends operating a new compatible discharge lamp at its full rated power for the first 24 hours before using supported dimming functions. Why would I choose CMH instead of HPS?
The main difference is spectrum. CMH provides a broader spectral distribution with considerably more blue, while HPS concentrates more of its output in the yellow, orange and red regions. The appropriate technology depends on the crop stage and lighting strategy. Does a 1000W CMH lamp produce much heat?
Yes. A 1000W HID lamp is a powerful light source and produces significant heat. Reflector design, hanging position, ventilation and environmental management should all be considered when installing it. How should the lamp be handled?
Allow the lamp to cool fully before handling, avoid unnecessary contact with the glass and ensure both ends are correctly seated in compatible DE lamp holders before operation. When should a DE-CMH lamp be replaced?
Light output gradually declines with operating hours, so professional users should monitor lamp age and crop-lighting performance rather than waiting for complete failure. Maintaining an installation-date record is particularly useful in multi-lamp facilities.
