ORIcontrol -Nymphs (Orius laevigatus) – Active Thrips Control for Protected Crops

When thrips populations are building and adult predators risk flying off too soon, ORIcontrol nymphs offer a more targeted, longer-lasting approach. These juvenile Orius laevigatus don’t have wings yet – so they stay where they’re placed, patrolling the canopy and feeding steadily on thrips larvae, pupae, and even smaller adults.

The nymphs are a great fit for early-stage hotspots, where containment is key. They thrive in warm, flowering crops like strawberries, peppers, and ornamentals – and because they remain on site, they’re easier to monitor and support through a wider IPM strategy.

ORIcontrol nymphs are often paired with Amblyseius swirskii or Neoseiulus cucumeris to strengthen larval control, especially in crops where sprays aren’t an option or where residue is a concern.

Best suited to:

• Early-stage thrips outbreaks in dense or flowering crops
• High-value protected crops needing residue-free pest management
• IPM programmes with overlapping mite and insect pests

How to apply:

Use 1–2 nymphs per square metre preventatively or up to 10 per m² in problem areas. Apply early morning or evening, and avoid insecticides before or after release to support establishment.
