ANDERcontrol (Amblyseius andersoni) – Versatile Mite for Multi-Pest Pressure

Not all pests stick to one spot – or even one species. In many glasshouses and tunnels, spider mites, thrips, whitefly, and tarsonemids turn up together, hitting hard and fast across different stages of growth.

ANDERcontrol brings in Amblyseius andersoni – a steady, generalist predator that plays a crucial role in early control. It doesn’t crash in like a blitz. Andersoni gets in early, blends into the crop, and just gets on with it – even when there’s barely a pest in sight. You’ll often forget it’s there – until you realise things haven’t flared up like they usually do.

You might catch a glimpse of them ducking between the leaves, quietly working through spider mite eggs, thrips nymphs, whitefly larvae, and whatever other soft-bodied hangers-on they come across.

They’re a great fit for propagation setups, young ornamentals, and growing areas where you’ve got several pests bubbling under the surface – but nothing explosive yet.

Because andersoni does well in mild, shifting conditions, it works especially well in crops that dislike high heat or sudden stress. It also partners neatly with other biocontrols for growers running a layered, responsive IPM strategy.

How to apply:

Apply at 25–100 mites per square metre as a preventative measure. For higher pressure, increase to 250 mites per m². Distribute directly into the crop canopy during low light, and avoid recent use of broad-spectrum pesticides.
