APHIDOcontrol (Aphidoletes aphidimyza) – Quiet Aphid Hitters for Greenhouses and Tunnels

When aphids creep in and you’re not keen on reaching for the sprayer, APHIDOcontrol offers a cleaner, quieter fix.

Inside each unit are Aphidoletes aphidimyza, a midge species with an unusual appetite. It’s not the adults doing the heavy lifting—it’s the larvae. Once they hatch, they head straight for aphid colonies, hiding out during the day and launching into action after dark. No noise, no overspray, and nothing left to chance. They bite straight into the problem—literally—and work their way through the colony before things get out of hand.

They’re especially handy early in the cycle, when aphid numbers are on the rise but haven’t peaked yet. And because they don’t upset other beneficials or flowering schedules, they slip neatly into most IPM setups without any pushback.

Use them as a tactical strike or to follow up an earlier clean-up—either way, they keep things in check without a chemistry set.

Best for:

• Aphids lurking in soft fruit, ornamentals, or young veg
• Clean production systems avoiding residue risk
• Growers using soft IPM programmes or beneficial mixes
• Night-active pest control with minimal input required

How to apply:

Go with 1–4 midges per m² to stay ahead of aphids. In known hotspots, increase to 10 per m². Place them near known aphid zones, ideally in shaded or protected areas. Don’t spray around them before or after release—give them space to settle and work.

Orders need to be in by 5pm Wednesday for delivery the following week.
